The best pies in town!
Popped in here for a late lunch, and was greeted by the friendly staff who explained what was on offer. I plumped for the chorizo and cheddar sausage roll, with rosemary potatoes and honey-​glazed carrots as my side dishes. This came to a very reasonable £5.95, and I went upstairs to wait as they got the order ready. The dining area is small, but clean and well presented and I wasn’t waiting long until my food came. Everything was delicious. The pastry on the sausage roll was buttery and crumbly, with a very tasty filling of herbs, sausagemeat, cheese and chorizo. This was no weak-​ass sausage roll, it was huge! The side portions were also large, and all were bursting with flavour. I would recommend everybody to give this place a try if they’re in the city centre. They do take-​away too!

Hull Pie, you’ll be unsurprised to hear, specialises in pies. These are individual pies, prepared and baked fresh every day and are beyond delicious. They have several sides; mash, gravy, roast potatoes, honeyed carrots and peas are the ones I remember and it’s very reasonably priced less than £5 for a pie and sides. I honestly can’t praise this place highly enough. All of the food is delectable, the choice ever-​changing and constantly good quality, the service is friendly fast and efficient and the price cannot be beaten.
Try it now! They have a standard set of 5 pies Sausage, Chorizo and Bean, Chicken and Stuffing, Beef in Red Wine (my favourite), BBQ Pulled Pork and Butternut Squash and Vegetarian Sausage.
