Fairly traditional tapas menu. Pleasant room with calm décor and large windows on the street. Staff we’re very pleasant but kitchen was slow even though there were only 2 other tables on a Sunday lunchtime. Food was of average standard(most items were overcooked) but relatively expensive with each tapas dish around £7 on average.

Granted, I was only there because a) they had indoor tables available and b) they served alcohol after 9:00pm. However, I would have been happy to stick around longer than the couple of hours we were there. Great atmosphere, the waitstaff were friendly without being overbearing, the drinks weren’t expensive, and they had a lovely Cava available that day at about £3 a glass. Try to get that in London! ;) My only regret is that we didn’t have room after dinner to eat the wonderful tapas we saw headed to other tables. Next time. Definitely next time.

Latino is a tapas restaurant, so I was immediately a bit distrustful by the menu. Besides the chorizo and chickpea, everything else was certainly not tapas. Their express menu offers mussels, tuna salad and a range of pasta dishes. I had paella, which was ok, although I felt I could have done better myself. Inside is quite nice, it’s all very clean and spacious. The main problem was just that the food wasn’t particularly satisfying, even at the reasonable price of £4.95.

It’s the weekend, you’re with a few mates and you fancy something a bit exotic to eat. You don’t want to spend too much and as you want to be sure you’ll get a good value meal you think that Tapas would be a good option. Where in Hove is good? you wonder. Then it hits you: Latino. Of course you think. The god of food then looks down and gives you ten house points for being so clever. He’s given them to you because you’re thinking about ordering their special Paella and, as it’s a Sunday, you’ll get it for a mere £9.90. That’ll easily sort out me and my friends. You think. How could you have forgotten about such a friendly, charming place?

If you’re looking for authentic Tapas or perhaps some simple Mediterranean cuisine then Latino is always a good bet. Whilst it’s not a first-class restaurant, it’s a place that rarely disappoints and, with so much competition near by, it has to be. A selection of all the standard Tapas dishes are available along with a few standout choices, particularly their special paella, which is offered at a discounted £9.90 on Sundays. This serves two or more people and is a great option for a large group. Booking is pretty much essential on weekends, as exemplified by their ever-steamy windows. Special offers include a lunch menu, consisting of half price Tapas, and an express lunch deal, which gives you any main course for £4.90. Such good deals are surprising, especially in a place that has its niche so well nailed: Simply, good Tapas, good atmosphere and good prices.
