Fantastic old pub. Great food. Guys behind the bar were awesome and friendly. Good selection of beers. I fell in love with the rev. James beer there. Great memories. Just got back from spending a week in Hereford and we repeatedly came back to this place for the beer, food and company. I understand it had just changed management and ownership literally a couple weeks ago. The new people are awesome. I wish I could go back. If you’re in Hereford and want a good pint, some good food, and good conversation, stop by.

The Spread Eagle, is considered one of the best establishments in Hereford. A great traditional town pub and restaurant, it’s hugely popular with the locals as it regularly puts on live music, and does the best steaks as well as a variety of other food in town! Located in the centre of Hereford, virtually next door to the famous Cathedral, this historic 17th century building looks quite small & doesn’t look much from the outside, but when you enter, you are met with an olde-worlde ambiance full of character and charm, with oak beams and old wooden floors. It stretches back a long way, and further continues up the old wooden staircase. There is also a huge beer garden which is great for the summer. It has a unique & largly varied menu with many of the dishes served here that I have’nt seen anywhere else. What’s more, all are home-cooked — none of this brought-in rubbish from catering companies for them! My family & I often eat there whether it be for a lunch-time snack, evening meal or your traditional Sunday Dinner, and I can honestly say I’ve never had a bad meal — the cooking here is spectacular! The restaurant is always busy, so I highly recommend that you book in advance for Sunday lunch & weekends. And last but not least — There doesn’t seem to be any mobile phone reception here, which in my opinion at least, can’t be a bad thing — at least you can enjoy your meal in peace!
