Had a great diner. Octopus as starter which was great and the lobster for main course. The lobster was served with potatoes and salade and everything tasted very good. They could have done a little less salade to not make it look too cheap. Staff was friendly and helpful. I would definitely come again.

Absolutely love this restaurant. The food is amazing, the service is great and the price is right. Rung few weeks ago to book a table for 16 people after our registry office wedding and when we arrived we had a lovely table prepared. Angela — the owner made sure that everything is fine. It was just a lunch to remember. They had the best crème brûlée in the world! Homemade, yummy! They also offer a lunch menu which is delicious and the prices are around £6.50. Great value for money. The restaurant is always clean and the service is always great!

Starter: Mussels Thai Style pretty poor lacked spice and mussels were overcooked, Soup of the day just lacked anything(Had better from a tin?) Main: Rump of Lamb with New Potatoes & Rosemary Jus lamb, Very nice succulent lamb well cooked what you would expect from a good restaurant, My wife had Duck Breast on Mashed Potato with a Black Cherry and Cassis Sauce again very well cooked sauce complemented the dish well overall the mains were well cooked and presented The décor and service and are what lets this place down with the exception of one waitress the staff really don’t seam to want to be there, and the décor is grubby toilets unclean(do they really need the bins outside the window.?) If it was given a good clean and lick of paint with more professional staff attitude then would be a much nicer eating experience but without them the food itself does not make up for the poor service and grubby interior shame

Latham’s Brasserie is a wonderful, cosy restaurant situated on George Street in the Old Town district of Hastings. I have been there a few times, most recently for a work Christmas party and had an all round fantastic night. We did not have to wait too long for our food, although we did preorder from their Christmas, which may have sped things up. Either way, the staff were delightfully friendly and quick to sort out any issues that arose. I ordered the Mushroom Terrine for starters, the traditional turkey and trimmings with Yule Log and Rum sauce. Each course was amazing. Literally AMAZING. There was a good amount of food served in each course, not too much and not too little. This was from a special Christmas menu, however their full regular menu can be found online. Latham’s has a well stocked wine cellar, however only two Beers on tap(Becks Vier and Strapomen — probably spelt wrong, its a Czech beer) with a few more bottled. It is a small restaurant and I strongly advise booking in advance, especially if you are planning on going on a Friday or Saturday night. Thumbs up all round.

Myself and three friends had a table booked here this afternoon(Sunday 7th June). I wish we had gone somewhere else. We have previously visited this restaurant and enjoyed our meals but today was different. The service was curt and brisk. We were seated for 10 minutes before we managed to get the attention of the staff to order drinks even though there were only three other tables with customers. I have never ordered a starter before, usually going for a main meal and desert, but as today was for a celebration and we had time to spare, we went for the whole hog. I ordered the mozzarella, tomato and avocado salad. What arrived was three very thin slices of mozzarella, two tiny pieces of avocado and I kid you not, one and a half cherry tomatoes on a very large plate with a sort of dressing. There was not even ehough to make a sandwich and the price was around £6! My friend ordered the pâté which arrived dolloped out accompanied by two small pieces of bread. The main meals were better but even then they were dumped in front of us without a word. When we looked up to ask for bread with the mussells the waitress snapped Did you order any? The main meals were adequate but without panache. We were made to feel as though we we were wasting the staff’s time by being there. Four ladies out to celebrate a birthday should be treated better than this. We would have spent a great deal on wine and deserts, coffee etc but given the poor food, brusque staff, awful music(soundtrack to Amelie) and chilly restaurant we left and went across the road to The Black Pearl where we were met with warmth and good humour. We spent the afternoon in there and wished we had eaten there too. In Lathams they automatically add 10% service charge to the bill. We paid this but did not leave a tip.

We’ve been to Lathams several times. They do a great lunch at giveaway prices and the food is always very tasty. French with a twist!
