The George

The George is a pleasant pub which we visited because it sells real ales. It has lots of seats for a small local pub, and is quite ‘olde worlde’ in its atmosphere yet also welcoming.

Great pub came here based in the other reviews. Real ale and the people are really friendly. Really good discovery well worth finding. Make sure you pop in if staying in town.

Despite having worked here in the summer, I’m writing this review as a very loyal customer, because I’m never out of this place!
I love The George because of how wonderfully friendly the atmosphere is. It’s located in a relatively busy part of Hamilton, and during the day serves a wonderful pub-​grub food menu. The bar is fully stocked with malts, spirits and a selection of a few foreign beers in the fridges. It’s also one of the only real ale pubs in Hamilton, and has won best ale pub in Lanarkshire various times! It has 3 alternating taps, which are extremely popular with the regulars.
There’s a DJ on both Friday and Saturday nights, with the crowd on Friday night being nearly packed out the door every week! There’s a quiz night on Tuesdays run by Colin, the owner, and on Sundays the food menu isn’t on, but there is a wonderful piping hot pot of free soup for all!
You’ll never meet a more accommodating place, as both children and dogs are welcome, and the owners Colin and Lynn are truly wonderful people who really love and care for the place, and in turn all of their customers.

Try the real ales, the only place you’ll find this type of traditional, tasty beer in Hamilton.
They also do some wholesome looking homemade food at very reasonable prices.
