We went to the Bistro Restaurant ‘Bertie’s’ for a meal and had a lovely meal, I would have given this review 5 stars only my partners steak wasn‘t up to much, he asked for medium rare and when it came out it was rare and I do know the difference between them it was really bloody and chewy but for the price it wasn‘t worth complaining but he won‘t be having steak there again, on the other hand my food was absolutely delicious, I had the chicken for main course and sticky toffee pudding afterwards and they were both amazing and the service was great too so we will return but NOT for the steak sorry Bertie !!!

I haven’t had the luxury of staying in Grantham’s most historic hotel — but I did recently visit it’s beautiful old bar for a drink. The surroundings are absolutely stunning — low beams, gorgeous furnishings. I would like to say a roaring fire, because it was single digits outside and almost as cold in the bar — but sadly, no, the fireplace was empty! The Royal & Angel was originally built around 1203 and has recently been restored to its former glory. If you want to sip a drink in salubrious, beautiful surroundings, you’ve come to the right place. However, it appears that history has a hefty price tag — two small bottles of Corona set us back six quid! Perhaps the reason why we were the only people in the bar apart from two other suckers. And also the reason why much as we enjoyed the beauty of our surroundings, we probably won’t return.
