This is a funny little pub. The décor is completely Medieval, from the tapestries on the wall to the stain glassed windows. I see what they’re going for, but for me it was a bit much and it felt like I could’ve been in a Shrek themed pub at Universal Studios. The service was actually very poor, the man behind the bar making a point that they were busy and it seemed an inconvenience to serve us. The novelty is good for a quick drink as it fits in well into the other-worldly feeling of the surrounding area. I wouldn’t recommend for a long stay though.

I will never forget my wonderful time in Glastonbury and my best friends wedding. I stayed in the Nun Cell, which is said to be haunted but the ghost is cool as long as you are a single woman staying there. I was looking over my shoulder a bit, but it was nice and comfortable. My dear friends scared me before I retired. Just ignore the stories. I made it home to the U.S. just fine except I turn people into on cement when they look at me.

Popped into the pub at the George & Pilgrims to get some traditional cider and a spot of Wi-Fi(ask the bartender for the password). Small-town pub atmosphere, ancient building and incongruous American 50s-70s pop music.

Avoid at all costs, overpriced and tacky. The energy in the George and Pilgrim is not very good any more, the food is overpriced and the new Managers do not respect the 14th century building. RelaxzInns who own this should go under cover to see how bad it really is. The rooms are not to the standard they used to be. It takes ages to be served at the bar. They now have a Knights Templar statue in the doorway of the Hotel, it looks ludicrous, they stop serving food at 6 pm, so people who stay there have to go elsewhere for their evening meals.

I went to the George and Pilgrim a fortnight ago. We stopped for a day in mystical Glastonbury, and I absolutely enjoyed it. The hotel was built in the 15th century. King Henry, 8th stayed here during his divorce. In the evening we got ourselves a nice dry Somerset cider from the bar and found a cosy spot to sit, relax and simply take in the atmosphere. In the hotel we met some interesting eccentric people. Mid-day we had a coffee here. It was my second visit to the George and Pilgrim. I could not think of a better place to stay in Glastonbury because you are surrounded by all the new age, esotheric, mystical shops. I can only recommend the George and Pilgrim!

A good friend of mine was banned by a manager who objected to her complaint that she waited an hour for a meal to be served and when it was served it wasn’t as ordered. Her elderly parents(who had stopped off en-route from Cornwall to Shropshire for lunch) had put in a couple of timid queries themselves before she asked to speak to a manager, who turned out to be a rather arrogant woman with attitude. She told them that the delay was due to a problem with the oven which meant that the freshly made steak and ale pie with pastry topping was taking longer than expected. They were eventually served with steak and ale pie with a cold mashed potato topping(no pastry) plus chips. At which point, due to the lack of any apologies or explanation from the management, they asked for her mother’s card to be returned from behind the bar and paid in cash for the drinks they had consumed. They didn’t pay for the meals. But the male manager did ban her during this transaction. She is never to set foot in the G&P again. Rightly so, she objects to being banned from one of her locals for nothing more than making a valid complaint, so said managers can now expect a call from their Head Office. All she wanted was a quiet, quick, lunch with my parents. G&P BIGFAIL!

I love the George and Pilgrim. When i first discovered this pub, i didnt actually think it was a pub, i thought i was walking into a church. Once you get inside however, its well decorated and has a relaxing, cosy atmosphere. The staff are all very laid back and the seating is incredibly comfy. you wont want to leave because its just like having a few pints with your mates in front of the fire at home.

Quite unusual ancient pub. Had a surprisingly good Sunday lunch here for £9.99 which included a FREE pudding! Both main and pudding were excellent, huge portions and good quality. Highly recommended.

Gorgeous 15thC Inn, with very creatively decorated interior and a great comfy atmosphere and lovely friendly staff. I understand this has recently changed hands so we tried the food again and it was delicious. I had the steak and Ale pie and the banana and honey pancakes and my friend the Macaroni Cheese and we were both comfortably full and very happy with our choices. My only gripe was the only 2 choices of cider, Blackthorn and some other one I don’t remember the name of. This is Somerset — go wild ;)! All in all though a really good experience — I would recommend this to anyone passing through
