There really is nothing better than a bag of Thornton’s Alpini chocolates. It’s a simple fact. They are quite pricey at around £2.79 but worth every last brown penny. However, black marks must go to their ridiculously overpriced ice cream, it’s daylight robbery, and the fact that they discontinued their milk chocolate with fudge pieces bars, an utterly baffling decision. Apart from that, they just sell lots and lots of choclolate, and have done for years, so if you have a sweet tooth you’re in safe hands here.

So you need to buy your gran a ‘get well soon’ present. Or your tee-total colleague a ‘thanks for everything’ present. Or your best friend a ‘don’t worry, you’ll get over him’ present. Thornton’s chocolates caters for all. They have an excellent selection of beautiful, delish chocolates suitable for all occasions. They’re pretty good at keeping up with the seasons– soon you’ll be seeing Halloween chocolates followed by a vast selection of Christmas goodies. Last year I bought a young family friend a big chocolate Santa– he was pretty impressed. Thorntons are also able to personalise your chocolates so come Valentine’s day, you could send your loved one a big chocolate heart with your names on it, if you really want to. Also take note– they are one of very few high street shops to have chocolates suitable for diabetics. I particularly love the little Thornton’s shop on Byres Road; it’s been a saving grace for my gift dilemmas. It’s also been a regular pit-stop for me during the summer months– they have a very fine selection of ice creams. Mmmmmmm!!!
