Popped in for a bite of lunch. Just something quick and simple. I had lovely bowl of homemade creamy chicken and leek soup with a sandwich. The ham and cheese sandwich was fine. You really can’t go wrong with that! The soup was lovely with nice chunks of chicken leek and some potato too. The little hint of tarragon was nice too. A nice find on Govan road and the healthier option than the visit to the chip shop that I was considering! I also had nice cappuccino which gave me a little boost for the rest of my day.

Right next door to my current abode, I couldn’t let the opportunity pass me by. I arrived for a warm breakfast friendly and full of salt of the earth ‘real Glasgow’ this is a marmite area and restaurant. I’ve lived here for the past decade and think it’s fantastic a realism warmth and openness that is impossible to mimic. Best eatery in the area? Well my first so will let you know but other than let the population of Unilocal visit me and serve you all myself. If you happen to be in this neck of the woods it’s a winner.

Was brought to this fine Govan establishment by my own personal Govan Tour Guide; Elizabeth F. She is showing me all the hidden gems in the area they did name Go-van. This wee corner café situated on Govan Road is indeed a sight for sore eyes when plonked in Govan to work, not knowing a darn HING aboot the place(other than it’s quite scary and Rab C Nesbit came from here) as most other shops/cafes look a tad intimidating… I’m sure they’re fine though… LUV Café however is bright and colourful, with it’s flowers and funky signage. It really does beckon you in. We came here on a mid-week lunch time and because of it not being the largest of cafes we nearly didn’t get a seat as in the middle of the café was a loooong table for a birthday(or some shiz like that) filled with PEOPLE! How very dare they… anyway, luckily 2 business dudes left so we pounced on there table like a crazed cat snatching it’s mousey prey. Squeak. I was on a time limit for my lunch(this happens when you have to work. Dang.) so we ordered our food and drinks at the counter(as table service is either not their policy or they were too busy with the birthday party), both of us plumping for the soup & sandwich deal and a can of fizzy juice(as the Glaswegians say). Worrying about my time-limit AND the busy birthday table I started to panic a wee bit BUT I needn’t have as service was swift indeed. In around 10mins or so our soups & sandwiches were served. Top job. I had the lentil soup with tuna mayonnaise & red onion sandwich, both were delicious, especially the soup. I could’ve done with something extra, salad wise, to go in my sarnie as I find plain tuna mayo & onion a bit boring but that’s just me being greedy for the green stuff. Didn’t have a coffee but it did smell mighty fine and my can of Irn Bru was lovely, haha! I would most certainly come back here again as not only is it a lovely café but also because of the good work the LUV people do for the local area. Elizabeth informed me of all their good deeds in making Govan a nicer, prettier place. Well done LUV!

As Angela B. is new to the area I thought the best place to start her off for lunch with was the luvly LUV Café. It’s been a while since I’ve graced my presence here. It was mighty busy when wew went in as there was a birthday party taking up most of the café. Fortunately 2 guys were leaving as we arrived so got a lovely window seat. They do a cracking deal of a soup and a sandwich for £4.30. It was very tasty and filling. I would still highly recomend, the food and choice is good and staff are very pleasant.
