It’s a city centre Starbucks and as such is very similar to all of the other city centre branches of Starbucks that I’ve visited. This one does have the advantage of opening just a little later(I think they don’t close until 8pm) until midweek, which is handy if you need somewhere to hang out but don’t fancy a bar. They don’t have tonnes of seating space downstairs but there are more seats available upstairs(this area is normally closed at about 4pm). The seats that they do have are fine but I can’t help thinking that the long benches might be less than perfect, and that tables for smaller groups would be preferable. The staff are pretty good, they’ll get you order order quickly enough and that’s definitely the priority. They’re less rapid about clearing the tables but that’s far from unique to this branch of Starbucks, or even Starbucks in general. It’s probably not my first choice in the city centre but it can sometimes be the obvious place to meet people and anywhere that opens late is ok in my book.

This is my favourite Starbucks in Glasgow. I usually end up here at least 3 times a week(when laboratorio, down the street is packed). The thing that makes it so great though is the second floor. The large space offers great views of Sauchiehall and West Nile and is a very peaceful place to study. The only issue I have with it is that some times the music is super loud. I can usually read with background music but at the volume it is at, I often have trouble concentrating. What is also great about the second floor is that it is usually empty compared to the packed and busy ground floor. Plus there are outlets all over the walls!(The main floor has one outlet due to all the glass). The food and drinks are the same as other Starbucks but the staff is super friendly and I have never had a bad experience. However, this Starbucks does get very busy and often has a long queue. Thank god for Mobile Ordering !!! I always skip the queue and just get my drink straight from the barista. Seriously if you don’t have the Starbucks app you are missing out !

This branch of Starbucks used to be one that I frequently went to out of all the franchises in Glasgow, with most days l used to go on a daily or sometimes twice a day. On my reticent visit today I must have got them on one of their severely off days where everything I touched was sticky and every table littered with dirty crockery or rubbish. There was only a washroom area that is upstairs to wash your hands, and leave your coffee on a random table at your own risk. From me previously scoring this place at one time 5 stars then to a 4 star and now to a 1 star shows how the good days at this once great coffee shop are long gone.

So in terms of the food and drink, Starbucks are much and such the same and I think we’ve all tried it at some point so I’m not going to ramble on about that. It’s not my go-to place and I wouldn’t regularly choose it however I am a sucker for the seasonal options. Hello PSL and toffee nut latte! This is definitely the Starbucks I would choose to get a take out coffee and wander round the shops or walk home with rather than sit in for a catch up with a friend. It feels a bit cramped to be honest and it’s always super busy, not sure I’d even be able to get a seat if I wanted one! Because of this it also appears a bit loud. I believe there is additional seating now(can’t remember if upstairs or downstairs) but I’ve never used it so I can’t comment. As with all Starbucks the staff are always friendly and helpful enough and serve you as quick as they can, even when they’re having a busy spell. Despite the 3 stars it’s perfectly fine for a take out coffee whenever I feel like one and am in town!

It was cold and miserable so I popped into Starbucks for an Apple Mulled Fruits. First time I had tried this drink and it was literally like a big hug in a mug! Warming, spiced apple drink finished with a slice of apple and a cinnamon stick. If you haven’t tried it — I strongly recommend it! They had the usual offerings of cakes, sandwiches, toasties etc but nothing really took my fancy. Starbucks do drinks well but in my opinion, their food needs improvement. Surprisingly, it wasn’t that busy at the time which is rare! I managed to get a table easily but the table was covered in empty coffee cups and plates. There was actually a lot of them around that were desperately calling out to be cleaned away. In the end… I moved them to the counter myself. I don’t mind doing that if the staff are clearly run off their feet(doing my good deed for the day and all) but when it’s not exactly busy, I would think they would be more on top of things. I enjoyed my drink and view from the window(great if you like people watching or in my case, watching signs and chairs literally fly down the street due to the wind!). This Starbucks is a great location if you’ve just got off a bus at nearby Buchanan Bus Station or a train at Queen Street. But it isn’t my favourite Starbucks in the City Centre. It doesn’t really have the ‘cosy vibe’(is that even a thing!!! It is now!) that some of the others do. It is the kind of Starbucks I would pop into to get a takeaway drink and wander down Sauchiehall Street instead of sitting in(weather permitted, haha).

This is my go-to Starbucks on the way to and from my work. Always have a pleasant and speedy service here. They always have a good selection of sandwiches and cakes and, most importantly, they always have soya milk! I used to find the old layout a little restrictive before the revamp, there was always a really awkward bottle neck near the tills, but they’ve since remedied this. Surprisingly very few coffee shops in the city centre are open late so this is usually where I end up if I’m catching a friend for a coffee after work or if I need to kill time before the cinema. The surrounding glass windows/walls are perfect for people watching. There aren’t many tables so it can get quite busy at certain times of the day, but generally I’ve always managed to get a seat when I wanted one. Out of the city centre locations I think this is the best one, for coffee, food selection and friendliness of staff. One time the barista here wrote my name on a cup as «X’s friend» and I’ve never forgiven him. He’s officially on the list. I mutter mean things under my breath when I see him. That being said, the fact I still visit this store is really a testament to the other staff and the convenient location!

10th February. Why did I change my stars the following day from 5 to 1? Yesterday the 9th my review was based on the coffee. Although when I went to use the toilets there was paper all over the place. Pretty much looking like a bin. There was a used nappy, dyper on top of the over flowing bin. There was water on the floor that looked like there may have been a burst pipe or a leeking pipe. I go in today as normal. Have my coffee, enjoying the afternoon. Only to be told when I went for my refill coffee, by the non-customer skilled manager Stephanie«I can’t serve you a refill as you made a mess on the toilets» I said excuse me with a blushing fave as anyone would be. She said one of the staff is adamant that I peed on the floor yesterday. She she could not serve me the refill. I was mortified to say the least, and fuming too. I told her I was not happy being accused of something I know I never done, considering the filth of nappies and everything all over. She said she had to go with her staff, even though I knows was obviously a guess and not based on fact. When I asked for the regional managers name, she said she could not give that, as I think she may have been a bit scared what may happen if I do contact them. The beauty of the page Linkedin, is that I will get hold of them, and voice this matter. This does not take away the good comments I had made. This is a separate thing on a different day. That the manager, and the staff who has acted on a guess should be held by the bosses for this action. I have been along with a friend a regular customer in Starbucks, that most of the staff over the years have known both our name and what we have before we order. When she was talking about yesterday, I was baffled. I thought she was trying to thank me for a good review I put on Unilocal the day before. The money both me and my friend spend drinking in Starbucks, with 3 visits in 1 day sometimes. This manager Stephanie is responsible for my money being taking someplace else. I’ve never been so insulted in my life. Have you ever been accused and knew you were innocent? That’s what has me fuming. The toilets yesterday was a disgrace. Yesterday there was no pee on the floor but what looked like a leeking pipe. I noticed everything in that toilet. Today it was filthy again, with stuff laying all over in terms of paper and things. This is a matter I’m going to bring to the attention of their bosses. It’s funny when it’s busy on 2 days and it’s a case of «let’s pick someone to blame» she just blamed the wrong one. A manager has a role of customer service skills, rota, staff, the running and flow of a shift. And most of all delegating jobs to make sure the toilets are getting cleaned. Obviously the toilets have been filthy on my 2 visits, and she could make sure you are lifting all your empty cups, and plates littered with muffin papers. Sadly this is a management thing, I think she is over looking. I still stand by my good words on the girl from the 9th. Shame the manager Stephanie had to let that down. And just a note. That this has now been reported to Starbucks customer care line, that their regional manageress is being notified of this. 9th February 2015 In here Job Hunting. On line. I tried to use the wifi in Buchanan street branch but I was close to smashing my iPad up with frustration at how many times the wifi knocks apple devices off line every 30 seconds. I’ve not had that problem here. Fast wifi, not been knocked off once. The Filtered coffee was the best I have ever had in Starbucks between California, Liverpool, Glasgow, Newcastle and Manchester. I was so impressed I asked he girls name and asked if I could take a picture for this review. I told her as I’m telling you. The froth was the most creamy froth I have ever had. The coffee, never tasted like sand or tar, as it does from other places. Usually the others and to be honest this place has had the froth on top then yucky coffee below. The froth was pretty much through all the coffee. I asked if I could take her pic for Unilocal and asked her name. Her name is «Blair» I think whoever the manager is, you need to get this girl to show all the staff how to make the filtered coffee, as really. It was that good.

This is my favourite Starbucks in Glasgow! The entire staff is incredibly friendly and provides an excellent service. This one redhead girl will always ask about your day and how you’re doing when taking your order. Really sweet :-) I go every Monday with my friend, as we have a break at uni, and I’ve never had a bad experience in this place. Besides, I fancy window seats, and you can’t really enter this place without getting one. It also has free, accessible WiFi. I know all Starbucks are meant to have that, but the internet offered by the Starbucks in the Royal Exchange Square is seriously lacking quality. Another reason why I’d choose this Starbucks over any of the others!

A great spot right on the corner to watch the world go by. There’s a fun crazy Barista with spikey black hair who will brighten up even the dullest grey morning on your way to work! A seat outside is great on a sunny day :)

I know it’s a Starbucks… they’re all the same, right? Wrong! The one variable you’ll find in Starbucks(aside from size and location) is the staff. And the staff in here rock my world. When I was tired and on a break from work in my old job, the first port of call for me would be to visit this neighbouring Starbucks. The guys who work in here are really efficient, friendly and genuinely care about the customer. I used to chat to the staff for ages(when there wasn’t a queue, obviously) and they were always really attentive and genuinely friendly. I like visiting places where the staff have great personalities and good manners. Above most other factors, that will attract me to revisit. As a Starbucks, this one has got all the usual features, but the service is so great it makes it stand out from the crowd.

Another Starbucks. It rests on the corner of Sauchiehall Street, near the tube and bus station and is usually really busy. I don’t really drink coffee, so the appeal for me to meet people here escapes me, but it is always a seemingly popular meeting place and not being one to argue, I will meet people here if that’s what they want. It’s a busy enough place, and the staff work hard to make sure they deliver a consistent-tasting coffee. Given the size of this place, I consider it more of a take-away place as opposed to the Buchanan Street one, for e.g. That being said, if you go at a decent time, you can get a nice comfy seat and have a nice chat. It served me well over winter time, in out the cold, rubbing various parts of your body with a huge latte as discretely as possible. I saw Serj Tankian from System of a Down walking down Sauchiehall Street last year drinking Starbucks, which was a surprise. I hear it was from ANOTHER Starbucks on Sauchiehall Street though.
