I’ve been to St. Louis a few times now and I always enjoy it. The atmosphere is very relaxed and comfortable. This time I ordered a breakfast roll with scrambled eggs and a side of vegetarian haggis. The eggs were perfect, not too runny or overcooked. The waiter misheard my order and when they brought something different than I expected they were more than happy to take it back and make what I originally wanted. I recommend coming here for breakfast, lunch or dinner! Also they are dog friendly.

A local favorite of mine! I care for the Big Breakfast option as I usually come hungry but the waffles are a new favorite. Taste hits the spot with everything I have ordered as well. There is a great selection of coffee options(I normally get black coffee or a cappuccino) as well as beer on tap, bottled Cidre, and an array of adult beverages to choose from. Great service and accommodates dogs. There is always a water bowl brought for my two dogs along with a smile. Decent prices on the menu to boot. Would definitely recommend stopping by for a quick bite or a pint.

Nice local pub/diner /music venue. Have been there several times for coffee and bite to eat but this was a first on a Saturday night. It was very busy, people eating dinner and lots just for a drink and too hear the music. Fortunately staff were very professional and polished and coped well. Food looked appetising and next time will book a table for dinner. By the way the music was great.

Wee gem of a place with a good varied menu in one of the best areas of town. The staff were friendly & the grub was warm & hearty. Keep Partick weird.

Feel kinda bad only giving St Louis three stars as I’m in here a lot, but I just don’t quite get it. My girlfriend loves the place so I get ask to go a lot and I oblige, but this isn’t somewhere I would come with friends or on my own. It has a bar, so it’s like a little boozer, it has table service(of sorts) it’s like a bar, bistro, café type place. The service can be weird at times, sat down before and nobody comes anywhere near you till you approach the bar. At other times they ask you if you’re in for drinks or food when you first walk in. What I’m trying to say is they are not very consistent. The food is ok, nothing really to write home about, burgers, pastas, stews, nachos, salads. I’ve eaten a few times and have never been blown away. Last night I tried their vegetable gumbo for the first time, whole thing tasted of sorrel which made the whole thing a tad acidic, the tomatoes could have done with a pinch of sugar, that would have helped. The garlic bread that was served with it was extremely bland, people need to hit the garlic button, too many places don’t go for it with garlic bread. Recently had garlic rye bread in Berlin and it was like being hit in the tongue with garlic bulbs(that’s a good thing) St Louis has a really decent beer selection, Williams bros lager and Joker IPA on tap. As well as every William’s bottle you can think of. Wine list is also far from shabby. They get a real mix of clientele, oldies, young uns, inbetweeners like me, people drinking, eating, battering into cakes and pastries. Friday and Saturdays they have live music which isn’t intrusive and you can still hear your dining, drinking partner. I’m sure I’ll be back as I said girlfriend loves it and it’s very close to my flat. But as I’m moving soon I can’t see myself going out of my way, certainly not for the food. Wish I liked you more ST Louis, they have all the makings to be a great wee… whatever they are. Try it out yourself and see what you think.

I’ve been to the St Louis many a time but mostly at weekends when they have had music on. As I was on the area I called in for late lunch /dinner, there wasn’t a lot of items that l liked on the menu as they only had limited choice, in the end I chose their Cajun chicken burger served with salsa & sweet chilli Mayo. When the food came out it actually looked pretty good, at £9.95 you do expect something half decent. The good things where the frozen French fries they where tasty, but you can’t really go wrong with that. Chicken on the burger was tasty but served warm. The bad things where, the bun was stale, believe me I’ve seen plenty in my time and with over 25 years working in the food trade(I know). Coleslaw that was served on the side looked as it had been lying out All Day as the mayonnaise looked transparent. I suppose the food was ok but £9.95 is very expensive for chicken & chips when there is a chippy just down the road. I would come back again but certainly not for the food.

The first time we visited St. Louis we were really smitten ~ I really liked the feel of the place and the cooked breakfast I had was so so good as was my boyfriends meal too. I wasn’t a big fan of the coffee so instead of coffee I now have either tea or something else to drink. We first visited on a Saturday early afternoon and we were pleased to see their menu covered quite a lot of choice; I could still order the full Scottish breakfast and my boyfriend also could order a panini or another lunchtime meal if he so wished. Great. So far so good. THEN we came here on a Sunday, again early afternoon. My boyfriend was wanting to try the breakfast after me saying how nice it was but what we did not know was that their Sunday menu was different to their Saturday one ~ it was very limited in choice & the full cooked breakfast/brunch meals could only be ordered before 2pm… unfortunately for us we had arrived at 2:02pm but we were told by one waitress we should still be able to get the brunch menu so we sat down, then about 3 minutes later another waitress came to take our order and we were then told ‘Oh no, you can’t have the Brunch menu ~ we’re only serving our Evening menu now!’ Evening menu at 2:05pm?! Now, I’m not sure if the first or the second waitress was wrong but upon hearing this we decided to leave as the menu she gave us was really not what we wanted at that time of day. Hmph. So we left deflated & a bit annoyed. Even though we had that experience we still wanted to go back as we figured it was just a misinformed waitress & we should have challenged it at the time but we didn’t want to cause a fuss. Anyway, back we went. This time it was a Saturday again & back to the full Breakfast/Lunch menu — woo-hoo! So we both ordered the soup & sandwich. Both of our meals were very nice(although I found the soup a wee bit too salty) and the waitresses were lovely too so we forgave them for what happened on our visit before. Then we went back again on a Sunday but this time earlier! A-ha! So we could catch the Brunch menu before 2pm. I had been thinking about that delicious cooked breakfast(the Stornoway black pudding was just a delight) so I ordered it again & my boyfriend ordered the same. When we walked in there were maybe 3 other tables taken, so still plenty free and even though the waitress said initially ‘Sit where you like’ as we went to sit on a table she came over and said ‘Actually, if it’s just the 2 of you do you mind sitting at a smaller table. Thanks’ Eh?! Don’t say ‘Sit where you like’ then when you clearly have an objection to couples sitting at slightly larger(nicer) tables! Hmph. So we ended up having to sit right beside another customer just because she didn’t want us sat at a table set out for 3 or 4 people *sigh* I was a bit irked by this… it also didn’t stop there. When taking our order the(same) waitress forgot to bring my water and then all efforts to get her attention were failed so eventually I had to say to another waitress who looked a bit baffled. Then the food came & I have to say I was more than a bit disappointed with mine… the black pudding seemed undercooked & my beans & mushrooms both had a strange taste to them(confirmed by my boyfriend who said his tasted totally different/nice) it made me a bit sad as I had been really looking forward to this cooked breakfast again. Oh well… my boyfriend was happy with his however so I must’ve just been unlucky that day. I did notice they were selling a LOT of the cooked breakfasts so maybe I just got the dud one. Shame. After my last experience it has put me off a bit. Don’t get me wrong ~ I still like the feel of the place & I think it does offer something really good in the area it is in. I also like the fact they serve Williams Brothers beers on tap and they put on live music regularly. We shall go back but I don’t think we will visit again on a Sunday(not for a while anyway). Whether it’s different staff/chefs(with it being a Sunday) or was just bad luck I don’t know, but I’m not giving up on the place. I can imagine of an evening St. Louis is a really nice place to go for a drink & also when the weather is nice, to sit outside & enjoy a refreshing pint of Williams Bros. beer, so I live in hope that we just hit it on a bad day.

I had the burger and it was lovely a big juicy thing keep me full for the whole day! ha ha., well it was pretty bit. nice service all in all would defo go back and i think its a nice wee place. On the down side it was defo not cheap! more like city prices even though it was hang on the outer edge of anything. Drop the prices and there no complaints for me. The drink price was far too high!

What I expected from this place and what I got were two different things but that’s not to say that I was disappointed, just not as in love with as I hoped to be. I went for lunch with a friend and ended up staying a while and having cake too. I like how the place is decorated and it was pretty quiet on a Friday afternoon but I expect it gets busier at night time. I went for the full breakfast despite it being lunch time, it was the thing on the menu I fancied the most. My first mistake was forgetting to ask for my eggs done a particular way(the waitress didn’t offer me a choice, so the egg came fried) and I didn’t ask them to leave off the beans & black pudding so I had to eat around them. Everything else on the plate was good — sausages, bacon, potato scone, mushrooms and toast as well as a fried egg which was a bit overdone for me. I then had a cup of tea and cake — I can’t remember exactly what the cake was but I know it was polenta, possibly lemon polenta cake. It was nice and very sweet. As we were sharing a cup of tea they gave us a large pot of water and our respective tea bags. There was a hair in my tea cup which they switched over when I pointed it out. While everything about this place was good, it just wasn’t a stand out amazing place for me and I left a little underwhelmed. The service was fine but not really friendly and one of the staff members spoke really quietly and didn’t look at you so it was hard to even tell they wanted to take your order. This is really a 3.5 star review as the egg was overdone, there was a hair in my cup and the staff were a little cold but because I like to err on the side of being kind I’m rounding up to a 4. And I would definitely return to see what it’s like at nighttime as I suspect it has a bit more of an upbeat vibe. It was also pretty reasonably priced — around £14 for a meal, drink, tea and cake.

Super friendly staff but they need to brush up on the follow up after they serve the client. We went in for drinks, and the waitress didn’t even notice we were out of beer or our waves for attention! We had to go up to the bar to order second rounds. Otherwise a super nice place to chill in the neighbourhood. You can even bring your dog which I found just outstanding as I have a small Yorkie that comes with me most everywhere :-) The cider beer is very refreshing and delish too :-)

Been going since it opened. Does its thing very well. Genuine café bar so it’s ok to have a drink with cheese or coffee and cake instead of a full meal. Food good, the charcuterie platter is a favourite. Friendly staff, relaxed atmosphere, quiz night and live music at the weekend. The location at far end of Partick next to a roundabout might not seem promising, but actually works very well, letting the sun stream in when it deigns to shine in Glasgow. It has a great community feel, quality without pretense.

Been meaning to try this place for a while, as i have lived in Broomhill for a while now, and walked past it on countless occasions. Not sure what vibe St Louis café bar are going for, it doesn’t really differentiate itself from any other eatery in the west end that looks similar; shabby chic? more shabby than chic really. However I’m not here to talk about their décor, as we were going in for breakfast and that’s about it. We walked in to be greeted by a friendly server saying we can sit wherever we like(we were the only ones in the place) we sat next to the window and looked over the menu. The menu is fairly limited; salads, burgers, pasta, pies — all the usual suspects; we were in for brekkie, so we looked over their breakfast menu. We both plumped for the veggie breakfast, which consisted of Egg, Veg Sausage, Veg Stornoway White Pudding, Potato Scone, Sauteed Button Mushrooms, Grilled Tomato, Beans & Toast The server took our drinks order of sparkling orange juice(which she had recommended which was really nice, and a coke) and disappeared off into the back to do what ever servers do. Drinks took a fair bit of time to arrive, in the grand scheme of things not the biggest deal in the world, but the fact we were the only two patrons there was a bit pedestrian. We sat for another half hour, wondering were our food had got to; when we first had came in, the chef had came out of the kitchen and shouted something at the ceiling; so maybe he was back there having a little cry — who knows. Our food arrived, I could see by my friends face this probably wasn’t going to fill him up as the portions were fairly meagre. OK, so let’s give you a breakdown of the breakfast step by step. The fact we had not been asked by our server how we took our eggs we weren’t expecting much; we got our wish! The eggs were slightly overcooked and tasted like they had been sitting a while, while other components were being prepared. The tattie scones, my boyfriend described as sacrilege as they were grilled or toasted, and certainly not fried, which made them tasteless and a little hard. The toast was stone cold, sitting juxtapose to rock hard butter; nice. The butter had a saving grace though, when it melted in your mouth it helped the uncooked tomato go down a treat, we were deliberating if the mushrooms came from a can or not; we didn’t come to a full conclusion on that front — except they were pretty tasteless. Saving grace of the breakfast was the veggie stornoway white pudding, oaty, spicy and pretty yummy. Well, that’s it for St Louis café bar, meandering service and fairly mediocre breakfast. I love the west end, we have some excellent food establishments, unfortunately this commonplace eatery isn’t one of them.
