If you like Boots, but also like Jeremy Kyle and those women’s mags with true stories such as «I had an affair with my husband’s dead siamese twin», then you’ll love Semichem. Cheap and shabby, but full of shite you sort of need, it’s a veritable feast of toiletries.

This Semichem across the road from Partick Station is very handy for basic toiletries. It is much cheaper than other drug stores such as Superdrug and Boots. However, the stock in Semichem is cheap because it is nearly at its sell buy date so this is something to look out for.

This Semichem is ideal for when I am just about to get the train to Partick and realise I need to pick up toothpaste/shampoo/fake tan. The prices are so cheap and there is actually a pretty good range of stock for such a small shop. As previous reviewers have said, however, it is rubbish for make up so Superdrug along the road is a better bet.

Let’s have a proper review shall we? Semichem is a discount health and beauty shop on Dumbarton Road. It’s far enough along Dumbarton Road not to attract the student-y Byres Road types — here you’re far more likely to bump into Partick regulars and Glaswegian Grannies. The store is a little messier than its city centre counterpart on Sauchiehall Street — but I think it’s actually a little bit bigger, and does seem to be better stocked. Now, if you’re looking for make-up brands, give Semichem a miss. You’d do much better to head along to the Boots or the Superdrug down the road. Semichem is great for hair products, skin products and shower products — but I have to say that make up isn’t really its specialty. They do have quite a good selection of perfume though — and it’s got to be cheaper here than it is in the department stores.

For those that aren’t familiar with Semi-Chem, it’s nothing really that special. However, its cheap prices are a huge lure, and when good branded products are priced so low, I can’t keep away! Stay away from the make-up though, the 25p lip glosses are good only for 13 yr olds. At least they were good for me when I was 13…

This chemist is located opposite Partick station. It stocks a range of cheaper priced and discounted toiletries, personal hygiene, hair, dental, cosmetic and baby goods. the cosmetic range stocked is Rimmel. As it is a fairly small store, it does not have as extensive range as the bigger stores such as Boots. It also stocks some perfume and also electrical goods such as hairdryers. It always has bargain bins and is a useful place for buying basic necessities, but as it is small it will probably be necessary to go elsewhere for ome items. It is usually really good for picking up false eyelashes and false nails at a really good price. It does not have a pharmacy.
