I’ve recently changed GPs due to a move and so far this one is pretty great. I haven’t had any long waiting times for appointments and the all the staff that I’ve interacted with so have been really helpful. I had a bit of trouble getting signed up. They wanted so many forms to be filled in and a photo ID and a recent bill to prove I was who I said I was. I thought that was a bit strange — I’m sure I didn’t need so much last time I signed up for a GP. I’m also not crazy about their appointment booking system: They prefer you need to either ring them at 08:30 on the day you want an appointment, rather than booking one in advance. They say this is because more people fail to show up for appointments booked in advance but to me that seems a bit presumptive. I feel like on-the-day appointments are really for emergencies. That said I’ve never had any trouble actually getting an appointment and once you’ve got one everything runs pretty smoothly. The surgery itself has plenty of comfy seating and asks visitors to avoid using mobile phones, which is fair enough. Hopefully I won’t have too much cause to visit regularly but I’m confident that if I do I will be treated very well.
