Royal Mail Delivery Office

I wasn’t really looking forward to going here to pick up a parcel, expecting a nightmare parking situation and a busy office. But I was pleasantly surprised.
I guess maybe go at potentially quieter times if possible? I went at about 10am on a Friday and was second in the queue and got in and out in under two minutes.
There is not a lot of customer parking at the depot, but it’s in a trading estate so I don’t see why you couldn’t park in one of empty spaces for one of the other businesses if you had to?
Make sure you take your ID /​ID for the person you’re picking mail up for. Of course they won’t give them item to you without it, would you be happy if they handed over your important mail items to just anybody?
My experience of this depot is definitely better than my previous experiences at the G11/​G12 Royal Mail depot in the West End.

I can not tell you how much I HATE coming here.
There is almost always a queue when you go… especially in December. In fact my top tip in December — unless you have over an hour (yeah an hour!) to wait in a queue just call them and get the to redeliver your item.
The staff are surly and you have absolutely no chance of raising a smile from them. Every time I have to go now I am obnoxiously nice and over friendly to them just to see if I can make them break.
Parking is a nightmare. I once made the mistake of parking in one of the 30 or 40 empty spaces only to be told within about 2 minutes that I couldn’t leave my car there because it is for Royal Mail Vehicles only — despite every space being empty and there being only 2 or 3 non– royal mail spaces.
My last irritation with this delivery office… do not go without your id they will send you away. Even if you can tell them who the parcel is from and what size of box it will be they will not give it to you unless you have valid id under any circumstances.
Despite all this there is nothing you can do other than get them to redeliver rather than visit here which is what I more often than not do.

I am becoming a regular here, as deliveries seem to be timed always to coincide with my being out: the staff are always very pleasant, and the walk does me good; don’t forget your ID!

Let’s be realistic, nobody is going to come here unless they have to. My reason for having to was that the postie had failed to deliver my parcel so I needed to either schedule a redelivery or pick it up from the sorting office.
In the past I’ve been pretty unimpressed with the service here. I’ve often arrived to be told my parcel isn’t here, or that they can’t find it. Occasionally I’ve even been given other people’s mail by mistake and had to explain that no, that’s not me or my address and ask them to check again. I think I’ve seen more customers losing their tempers with staff in this building than I’ve seen in any other.
However, I was pleasantly surprised to learn that they have late opening hours on Wednesdays which makes it possible to collect parcels after work. When I arrived there was no queue of angry customers (there were no customers at all) and I had my parcel in my hands in record time. Maybe they’ve improved recently. It’s still only enough to get 3 stars from me but I definitely recommend taking advantage of those late opening hours.

For what it is, it is great. Mind you, it’s a little out of the way, but if you have a car you’ll have no problem getting there.
I have only been here in the mornings (their opening hours are alright but I definitely recommend coming here in the mornings as it is quieter), but the staff have always been cheery and helpful enough.
Personally, it’s probably the feeling of receiving mail which makes this place great. Especially when it is an unexpected parcel that you didn’t know you were getting (a friend of mine once sent me something because she’s amazing and she thinks I’m amazing too, based on her parcel anyways, or little tokens of appreciation of far away loved ones that decided to surprise you with a little something to keep you warm from Jack Wills).

So often I’ve just missed the postman with a parcel that I have that I have been waiting for by a matter of minutes and finding the delivery note on the Mat.
Royal Mail have a delivery office/​collection point where you can pick up your undelivered recorded mail provided that you collect within 18 days and bring your slip with a form of recognised identification with you.
The mornings are the best time to collect your parcels as as the office is normally quieter, loads of people go after work, with Christmas time being a nightmare.
