«What in the world was she doing in Revolution» you might be asking? Honestly, I was asking myself the same thing! What in the world!!! As mentioned in my review for Cova, my boyfriend and I were invited out for the night. We left it up to our friends to pick the places for the night, and this was our first stop after dinner. A vodka bar filled to the brim with barely over 18’s. Great. Right off the bat, I whispered(well, more like yelled– it was quite loud there) to my boyfriend that I was totally out of my element. I’m not even sure I ever went to bars like this when I was 18. Well, when in Rome, right? Our friends wife and I proceeded to order some off the wall mix of a drink that cost 8 quid a piece and came with a shot of prosecco. Our guys got a beer and a cider and we drank them, and left. I’m not sure there was much more we could take of barely dressed 18 year olds and fake tan lines. We are well older than 18 and decided this was not the right place for us. However, if you’re looking for 30 different flavours to put in to your vodka, well, this is the place to be. As for me, I’m cool with an old mans pub and some place I can actually have a chat over some drinks. Maybe I’m just old.

Again, another stop on our pre-karaōke tour of town took us to this bar, enticed by signage advertising cheap Dutch courage. Even for a Sunday night the place was rather empty, but that just meant getting served right away and having our pick of seats. The menu told us that cardholders get cheaper drinks, so we chipped in a quid each for their loyalty card and ordered a pitcher and 3 shots. Don’t think it came to more than 20 quid, and the drinks were pretty tasty. All in all, I wouldn’t be adverse to visiting again.

A great place to start a night of drinking and the meal deals on a Monday make it ideal for food. With that said, on my last visit I had Mac and cheese. Not a difficult dish to mess up, but the £8 it supposedly costs to make was clearly not anywhere in the bowl I was given. At best it was average, I have had better from weatherspoons.

If you like a wide variety of vodka shots this is the place for you, if you eat purple violets when you were younger, or kola cubes, or generally any sweets, there will be a shot in here which will instil a sense of nostalgia. Good for vodka, the rest of the drinks are mediocre at best.

More like 3.5 stars, but it’s a cocktail bar. A chain cocktail bar. The kind where they use novelties in cocktails that are strongly flavoured of other things, which sort of defeats the point, but hey, it makes it look cool! Admittedly, I was suckered, and I had to go back and buy a shot of buffalo grass vodka solely so I could see how it actually tasted. The vodka here is plentiful, decent quality, and cheap for the city centre, though. And I will freely admit I am also suckered by novelties like cocktails coming in battered tin teapots. Not overly impressed by the food, but the atmosphere is a little bit of all right when it comes to a chain on a quiet night, and the staff were nice. Funny, I was in there on a Thursday too. NEVERCOULDGETTHEHANG. Final verdict, I suppose, is that I’d rather be sitting in Rev than in most of the other myriad pub chains in the city centre. I just wouldn’t go seek it out.

I was in Glasgow and met some awesome chics who took me to this bar before going to some popular club there(I forget the name). It was a lively place and filled with tons of hot women. Not only that, the bar tenders were awesome. I went back there the next night and ended up chatting with the bar tenders and they gave me a souvenir. Very cool place!

This is definitely somewhere you can kill some time in trying out the different flavours they offer and then, stumble out the door having had a pretty good. Prices are average to expensive, but for a City Centre bar, I don’t think they are that bad. Fairly nice interior and not forgetting that they sell lager too!

On a beautiful summer evening, my friend Robbie and I decided to do an impromptu bar hop in the City Centre as part of catching up… somehow we ended up here. Now I’ve been to both the Edinburgh and Glasgow Revolutions. Meh… they both had a similar feel, and similar crowds… and it’s not entirely my thing. This particular evening in the Glasgow Revolution it was balls to the wall hen-tastic. Oh my god, my ears can only take so much female screeching and shrills. It was really funny to see a guy try to pull me at the bar as I got drinks for Robbie and myself. Then I signalled the«panic» face, and he came to my rescue. The place was packed, and it was good for people watching for the one round of drinks we had there. Once we finished, we packed up and darted out. Bottom line: If you like the look of feisty inebriated folk and having hot pink feather boas flicked in your general direction, this is your place. As I have moved on from vodka as my choice of booze, to gin… I probably won’t miss out on Revolution too much. But it’s always fun to watch people drunkenly stumble over in and out of the door in their 5″ stilettos… ouch!

Visited Vodka Rev last night for a friend’s birthday drinks, and yet another great evening was had. This time, because it was a Saturday, it was busy, but it quietened down by about 10pm, when all the Hen and Stag parties left. There were loads of them! We had a World Cup Pitcher, which was lovely and fruity, then a jug of Strawberry Woo Woo, vodkas with strawberry purée and cranberry juice. They both went down a treat, tasted just like juice, but were pricey at £14 each, although we did get about 4 glasses out of each. We also noticed the menu, which looked great, especially the pizzas. We’ll definitely come back and see how the food is one afternoon. Another win for Vodka Rev, but now that Wedding Season is here, expect it to be packed to the rafters with Hens!

I only recently found out Revolution was a chain bar, but now that I know, the very-middling feel of the venue has become all the more apparent for me. Everything feels very standardised, from the furniture to the music to the menus, even down to the manner in which you’re meant to enjoy drinking yourself into an incontinent stupor. A few years back they did actually play quite good tunes in here during the week, with some quite astonishing left-of centre choices cropping up. That perk is long since gone, replaced with the blander end of house music leisure companies tend to view as the safe option for a night out. Just yards away from Bamboo, possibly the best of the mainstream clubs in town, convenience alone will always bring the crowds stumbling through the door.

Revolution is just your average bar, it’s not anything special and I usually only pop in if I’m heading to Bamboo afterwards. To be honest, I just find it a bit boring so it’s never top of my list of places to go for drinks but it definitely has the convenience factor for Bamboo. The last time I was here was a Sunday night and the drinks were really expensive for three vodka cokes it was just under £10, yikes. They do have an amazing range of shooters though and I had a Cola Cube and one that tasted like ice-cream they were delicious. It’s also big enough to accomodate big groups, so always a winner if you’re out with lots of friends.

When I first came here it was because they used to do giant wooden holders of about 30 vodka shots in all kinds of flavours. I can imagine that it caused problems and they don’t seem to sell them anymore(although I probably couldn’t handle it anyway!). It’s a favourite with girlfriends since they do a good selection of pitchers and exciting cocktails but I can’t stand the music they play at night. All conversations are drowned out by repetitive house and loud mouths getting charged up before hitting nearby trendy clubbing hotspots. If you catch Revolution at the right hour then it’s a good wee bar but avoid it at drinking rush hour.

Traditionalist, jack the lad, old man or just a downright boring bugger, call me what you will, but to me going to any pub is about having the usual pint of lager. Wherever I go, even out clubbing for that matter, I always get the same old pint of Tennents or Fosters. Revolution is not a traditionalist pub. I don’t know how many pints it took in here to get me to go against my values and try one of their fancy toffee apple-flavoured cocktails. Though I think in reality I just felt I couldn’t go into this bar without trying even one of their fabulous variety of madcap flavoured cocktails and shooters. The toffee apple, I must say, was amazing. Cappucino, Birthday Cake, After Eight, Milky Bar — you’d be a right git not to try one of these crazy vodka shots. Sadly though for such an exciting feature such as this, the crowd that comes to Revolution is pretty sparse. You would think that it would be busy every night, including weekdays, but it isn’t. Maybe it’s the lack of good music? Maybe it’s the pitch-black darkness? I don’t know. It’s a shame because the drink prices aren’t too expensive either. It’s a better vodka bar than the tiny, more expensive Vodka Wodka in Ashton Lane, yet it isn’t half as busy. A real shame.

I associate Revolution with their wooden trays of shots that can only signal the beginning of a very messy evening ahead. They offer up a great selection of drinks, with an impressive menu of cocktails and shots. However, this place can be kind of hit or miss. It’s generally frequented by groups of sleazy lads that enjoy calling you«DAWL» and invading your personal space. The music is ear piercingly loud and, while it can sometimes be bearable, it is often an awful DJ blasting the latest in sleaze and cheese for the mini skirt and checked shirt crew to bump and grind to. What’s decent about this place is that you can hire the raised area for functions and avoid contact with said crowd and the seats are pretty comfortable. Overall, it’s not awful on a weeknight for a function or with a group of friends, but worth avoiding on the weekends.

I’ve had a few good nights in here, especially functions. I don’t imagine going otherwise, to be honest. It’s got a good layout inside and a proper good bar, which is full of surprises. The selling point for me is the unique vodka that they do in crazy different flavours that make it go down perhaps a little too easily. I only wish there was a fruit and veg place as creative as this to help me manage my 5 a day.

Vodka is my drink of choice and so I am always rather pleased when someone suggests a night out starting in Revolution. Rather than my usual plain vodka and lemonade I can pick from millions(not quite) of flavoured ones, yippee! I usually end up going for the bubblegum vodka and lemonade which is deeeeelicious. I try to avoid those shot things though — yeugh, I don’t love vodka *that* much. You can reserve the big booths here for no charge which makes it a good place for a wee birthday night out or the likes and the booths are big enough to hold quite a few people whilst remaining cosy. I was a bit disappointed on my last visit though. My friend and I had time for just one drink before the cinema and were lured in here by the big boards outside advertising cheap cocktails. In we bounced and asked the man behind the bar if any of the cocktails were on offer. Turns out, to get these offers, you have to buy some sort of privilege card booo. It would have been worth it if we were staying for more than one drink but would have worked out a lot more expensive for us so we hastily left.

Well where do you start with this place? For one it is a lovely bar and although if its busy you do have to wait slightly longer to get served it is worth it as the cocktails are to die for. They have a very large selection of cocktails, and they all come by the glass or by the pitcher . Which if there is a group of you then its handy cause you can taste even more. If you are smart then before heading here you will download the drinks vouchers from there website, so that you get some free drinks(most are 241 but still great) I have also had a few of the pizzas from here(they do a special that for £8 you can get a pizza and cocktail). I tried the vodka pizza and it was gorgeous. Also the décor is pretty decent to and one of my requirements for decent toilets is that they have straightners, which this one does . Also they have 2 large mirrors which always helps cause after a few cocktails from here it can be hard to focus. My only pet hate about the place is that it gets so busy on a fri/sat but if you can go during the week it is excellent. Give it a visit if you’re in Glasgow because you won’t be disappointed.

Right beside Bamboo, Revolution is nice and hip, though often acts as more of a warm up venue. The ‘special shot menu’ is certainly unique, and the Strathclyde surf club also congregate in here. It is, or hopefully was, home to the scariest toilet attendant in the whole of Glasgow. Beware.

Revolution is bar that specialises in vodka, vodka, vodka. Great, my speciality is vodka! Revolution is a fantastic place for a night out. It’s a bit pricey, but the novelty value more than makes up for this. There is a special menu for sets of 5 shots, with flavours ranging from vanilla and mint to chilli, bubblegum and even birthday cake! I have tried 5 of these shots(shared with Stu) and I must say they are Godawful. It’s not like I was expecting them to taste mild or anything. But what these shots do is create a talking point, bring people together for a laugh and something to reminisce about. What they also do is cause you to go and get a double cheeseburger before you can stomach any more booze. There are wee nooks and crannies for different groups to accommodate themselves and I even held part of my 21st birthday celebration in here. We booked a booth for free and it was no hassle at all! My top tip would be to order a mudslide cocktail — they are vodkalicious and calorific and set on fire for you at the bar to add to the spectacle!

My last trip to Vodka Rev is very hazy, although I can say when you wake up in the morning clutching an «I HEART Vodka» bag, containing Vodka Rev merchandise(a pair of pants and a pair of boxers), you know it’s been a good night. From what I remember, we got an amazing deal on cocktails — 2 for 1 — as it was quiet and we got chatting to the bar staff and manager, and as everyone knows, «Buy one, get one free» is one of the most beautiful phrases in the english language where alcohol is concerned. Ahh yes, then it was 2 for 1 on Vodka sticks(the above mentioned 6 shots on a tray, flavour of your choice). Suddenly someone yelled«FREESHOTS!» above the(decent) music, and everyone at/behind the bar received a free shot(another good thing in alcohol terms) — all I know is I was given lucky number 16 — a blue liquid that made me happy. So as you can imagine, my friend and I decided to take up these bar gentlemen on their BOGOF offers, and that’s when my mind goes a bit hazy… So, if 2 for 1 drinks ain’t your style, or you don’t want free underwear, then I’d avoid this place. Otherwise, who’s getting the next round in?
