I’d booked a cut and colour appointment online, unfortunately the girl who was supposed to do my hair was off sick. I thought that I’d need to rebook but the receptionist phoned me to let me know that I’d still have my 9am appointment with a different stylist. I was already impressed at this stage! I turned up to my appointment feeling like a sweaty mess and my hair hadn’t been cut in months. My hairdresser Kayleigh was very nice, chatty and smiley too which made all the difference. Kayleigh gave me the best cut I’ve had in years and a totally new hairstyle that I didn’t think I’d ever suit. I’d chosen a stylist that wasn’t as high up as the other hairdressers but she still did an amazing job. I got my hair cut and coloured for about £90 which I felt was very reasonable and I got an online discount too. I’ll definitely be going back here for my next haircut!

I’ve been to the location on Buchanan Street twice now since I’ve visited Glasgow. Both times my haircut came out great. Jade was the stylist that did my last cut and she did an excellent job of following my description of the cut I wanted. I highly recommend her. I like the fact that if you book online you receive a discount and they also send you coupons for New Year’s and your birthday. I can’t wait to go back during my next trip.

I’ve been a couple of times to this particular salon now and have had varying service between the visits. My first time was great — rocked up for a cheeky stand by appointment for £27 and came out feeling great. The stylish listened to what I wanted and more importantly, understood my mane and how it behaves(it doesn’t). He did a great job and I left the salon feeling on top of the world. However on my last visit, I tried the same trick again feeling confident that my usual«stand by and go» trick would work. I was shown to a chair and left there for 20 mins while everyone whizzed round me and I was ignored except for the chatty juniors who kept staring in my direction then going back to ignoring me. Eventually my stylist turned up and I was taken through the usual consult. I felt reassured and that perhaps I was just stressed out and should have a word with myself. However when I realised that she was cutting it progressively short around my eyes I had to stop her. Next she used a defuser on my hair(nb: very bad idea on this mane) and I left the salon with semi wet hair and a style that made me look like a poodle. Perhaps I hadn’t made it clear enough what I meant or that I should have been firmer about how strong the curl in my hair is. Whichever, I’ll make sure that next time there will be no scissors near my barnett until the scissor holder is on the same wave length as me(geddit?! Aha.) The salon itself is stylish and clean and there are always plenty of punters in. I think I’ll be back because the prices are reasonable and bar my last visit, it’s always been good. I’ll reserve a firm judgement until then!

My quest for a new hairdresser in Glasgow continues. I think this is the best hairdresser I have ever been to, and I have been to some other decent ones like Toni and Guy and Saks on St. Vincent Street. I don’t have a hell of a lot of hair, so when my haircut took over an hour I was confused. It became obvious however, that the chap cutting my hair was a committed perfectionist, making small adjustments long after I thought it was looking perfect. As well as the haircut, I got my hair washed and massaged which is always nice. It’s lovely inside, with huge mirrors, bustling with life. If it was just a wee bit cheaper. it would definately be my first choice for my new hairdressers. But my hair grows so fast it needs cut too often for me to pay so much. Sigh. My quest continues.

This Rainbow Room salon is my local/regular hairdresser. I’ve been to 3 of the salons, but this is my personal favourite. Very central, great front desk staff, and lots of talented hairdressers. Prices vary from £30 for a stylist to about £72 for the salon director, with plenty of choices in between. You may find that your regular hairdresser’s price increases, which means they’ve been promoted to a new title and price. The website is great. You can book online, and for the time being you’ll get a £5 discount for doing so. When you select your hairdresser’s name and a date, it will also show you other stylists at that level who you can book with at the closest dates and times. The salon itself is impeccable, very clean and stylish, and always bustling with activity. They give a consultation and shiatzu head massage(sooo worth it!) as standard, along with a cup of tea or coffee if you fancy it. They treat their clients exceptionally well, I must say. I’ve been going here for about 5 years now, and will continue to do so until they find some way to upset me(which I’m almost certain they won’t). If you’re still unsure, go for a £25 stand-by cut and see what it’s all about!

I have always thought that Rainbow Room was terribly out of my price range, however I recently discovered the bargainous joys of stand by haircuts. Rainbow Room offer standby appointments, which means that you just turn up, with no scheduled appointment, and if a stylist is available then they will fit you in for a cut and blow dry for just £25 — an absolute bargain compared with their standard hairdo prices. When you go in, the staff are very pleasant and offer you tea or coffee and a magazine before you sit down for a consultation with the stylist. Customers then receive a shiatsu massage, which adds to the pampering experience, before having your hair washed and styled to your specifications. I always feel that it’s worth going to a decent hairdressers for a really good cut that will last you a long time and if you can get a great quality cut at a great value cost, even better.

I came here when extremely skint but in desperate need of a haircut after a friend had been and told me about an offer with one of the newly qualified hairdressers. Although this offer had ended when I called to make an appointment the girls on the phone were very obliging and offered me another discount(though not quite as much as if I’d called a day earlier). I happily took it. This is definitely the biggest hair salon I have ever been in — it is huuuuuge! My hairdresser was obviously a little nervous but gave me top treatment asking me exactly what I wanted and checking I was happy throughout. The head massage was odd — I’m sure I’m in the minority but I couldn’t quite decide whether I enjoyed it or not. I swayed between feeling relaxed and being uncomfortable at the intimacy. He spent a long time styling my hair at the end even curling it for me for no extra cost and it was great to receive such attention. I was slightly embarrassed walking down the street afterwards however as my hair looked so OTT but a quick wash and it was sorted. Not quite as relaxed as my usual hairdresser(though that is perhaps to do with the fact that it wasn’t what I was used to) but I’d consider going back if there was another offer.
