We rang up on Sunday morning and managed to each get an appointment for around 3pm for massages. We arrived and were given questionnaires to complete with our details. There was a little confusion as I hadn’t specifically wanted either the 3pm or 3:20pm slot, I just booked them both for myself and my friend, however despite it making more sense for my friend to go in the first slot, they wouldn’t change our times around. The room for the massage was nice, standard massage room really. Although they do have electronic beds to adjust the height, which I gather for shorter people than me(5ft 10) this would come in useful, plus it is heated. Although I did ask half way through for the heat to be turned off as I felt like I was being cooked… but that’s just me and heat! The massage itself was good, she did as I asked and didn’t shy away from the painful parts(no pain no gain)! A complementary facial had been included which was basic but relaxing. I advised her of my sensitive skin so she used the sensitive lotions, which still stung slightly, but I’ve had worse! Arriving back at reception my masseuse, Natalie, had left a postcard advising me to get more massages to help with the problem areas, which was sweet, and giving me another excuse to get more :) Based on my experiences alone I would recommend them, however my friend who was with me didn’t have such a good time. She didn’t have a heated bed, which was a shame since she is the heat lover, and her masseuse didn’t follow her instructions and performed a relaxing massage rather than one that tackled the knots. Overall, I’d probably go back if I was in the area or couldn’t get into a more local one. It’s handy as it is in Silverburn, up the stairs to the left of Yo-Sushi/Debenhams, if you are there for some shopping too, and the premises is very modern and stylish. Price wise, it was £32 for half an hour of massage, with the complementary facial. It’s a little on the pricer side, I guess due to it’s location.

I have been coming to this spa since 2010⁄11 and I cannot flaw anything about the set up of the place right round to the staff which are all amazing. When I first attended the spa it was for a manicure & pedicure and when it came to me getting my beautician and being seated I was pleasantly surprised; not like my usual sit in a seat in the corner and get your feet out and place it on a stool. I was politely escorted by the receptionist to my seat, where I filled in a registration card and to wait for my beautician. When she arrived I was again pleasantly escorted to a lovely set up area specifically for pedicures. It was high up comfy seating set apart from the other two areas by booths, with a seat at the end for my therapist. She let me know she would be back and she politely wondered away and cane back with a bowl of warm soapy water to bathe my feet in, my week were treated what I can only imagine how a queen would have hers treated. Once all was dry on the toes I was then moved to the nail bar area, where I was again offered some beverages(I forgot to mention this at the start) hot or cold; there wasn’t a moment gone by unchecked as to how I was and if I wanted to be watered! On to the hands I was again tested like a queen and the girl(s) chatted away to me like they had known me for some time and even I know that’s not easily come by and that was my first visit. Since then(2012) I have been back for an all over body massage which was like heaven seeing as I’d just had a baby. I was shown round to an area I had never been before and appeared in the changing area. Everything was clearly instructed by the therapist and then I was left to get ready and make my way in to the spa and to say I was pleasantly surprised is an understatement. The room was dark and ambient, with comfy loungers, one table with a pair of chairs, infrared sauna, water ready and waiting at my seat and 6+ treatment rooms. My therapist came out and created me and took me in to the treatment room for a quick consult and food therapy, I was then given myself some time to pop up on to the heated treatment bed which was like a large single bed! Long story short, the massage was out of this world and from then I have frequented this spa for my massages and more. I know have everything from my nails to a massage to my waxing done in here because the staff are so welcoming and good at their job, this is a very professional place and I have yet to find a flaw(I’m not looking). Get yourself along to Pure Spa and if you don’t fancy paying full price keep an eye out on Groupon &/or Living Social for some absolutely fantabulous deals; however, you’ll be able to snap up some great deals from their website.

This is the first west coast addition to the Pure group, who already have two salons in Edinburgh. Part of the recently opened Silverburn shopping centre, this is an ideal place to grab a quick treatment after shopping or to spend a relaxing day in the spa. As well as a beauty salon offering basic treatments such as manicure and pedicures, there is a spa section inside. After registering, you’re asked to choose a locker and change into robe and slippers before heading into the seating area, which has a few comfy chairs, subtle lighting and soft music. The treatment I had was in their Last Minute Offers, meaning I paid 25% less than the advertised price for taking the treatment at a specific time. I had a spa relaxing massage and the therapist I saw was excellent, altering the treatment to meet my needs that day(I had a sore shoulder and so she worked mostly on that area rather than the whole body as advertised, which was much appreciated). After the treatment you’re encouraged to relax in the seating area and are given a lovely fruit smoothie. All the staff I dealt with were very friendly and helpful and I would recommend this as a good place to go to relax after a hard day.
