Part of the Newlands Bakery complex, this deli has a strange mixture of kosher bread, chutneys and meats, as well as some pastry covered hot take away food that seems to owe more to a generic bakery than a bijoux delicatessen. It isn’t really worth getting a quick snack from here: better to stock up on the speciality bread and some interesting cheese, and make something at home. The cold cuts are appetising, and the inevitable«Scottish Preserves» are spot on: plenty of choice, good quality, fair prices. It doesn’t quite come up to the quality of the delicatessens at the top end of the road, but it does have the best bread.
