On the way towards Shawlands, parallel to Govanhill and just past the MacDonald’s, there are several bars that are intimate enough to be local but friendly enough to be worth a casual visit. The New Regent is one of these: a good whiskey selection, a nice atmosphere– the bar staff are quick to serve and manage to smile even on those busy Friday night sessions.
It doesn’t really have much to recommend it over the other bars along the same road, unless it is your particular local, but it is safe and welcoming bar, with a good range, if unspectacular range of drinks.
