Why, why, why did we go here. It’s literally 2 minutes from our house and we were exceptionally starving, but really this was ridiculous. I wish I could give it zero stars as that’s what it deserves. I know carverys aren’t renowned for their top quality fayre — however this was of a whole new level of horrible. I opted to go for the glazed gammon and Turkey. The ‘carver’ literally hacked into the joint of Turkey and gave me a few huge literal steaks of, along with a sliver of the glazed ham. I chose my accompaniments and sat down. The first forkful that went in my mouth I spat out. It was a combination of rubber carrots and rock solid peas which I immediately had to spit in my napkin. I began moving the food around my plate to inspect for any other raw ingredients, only to find the Turkey had huge blackish red marks on it. It’s not like me to be squeamish with my food but it was truly disgusting. The one slice of gammon I was given had a huge lump of fat attached to it and was chewy and tasteless. The gravy was lumpy and the diced swede was rock solid. I probably ate about 4 forkfuls in total. I wish Id complained but I’d have been lucky to find a staff member. The place seems totally desserted in terms of waiting staff. I would not recommend this place to anyone, ever!

This place is a carvery restaurant. You queue up to pay first at the till(and get a pint of Deuchars IPA while you’re at it for £2.09) and then you queue up again to get your food, but it’s well worth the waits for some top notch carvery at bottom price(especially if you get one of their many deals which are always floating around their website). Anoth thing that’s awesome is the mint sauce gravy. Mint sauce goes with everything! And gravy is practically like water to me being from Nottingham and raised on it from an early age. Awesome. Bonus of mashed potato option you don’t always get at carveries too.

Hmmmm — I can’t really disagree with too much of what the previous reviewer says… but it wasn’t doing it for me. Everything about the place is low quality — décor, set up, service — just not that great in any way

This isn’t news to you, people who’ve lived in the UK all your life, but I am dumbfounded by the sheer volume of country pub chains. What seems like a relatively simple formula(sprawling cavern of rooms, patterned wall paper and carpets, pub food) can easily be bungled if a perfunctory attitude is taken towards following it. My in-laws have been threatening for weeks to take us here and we were very WARY. A carvery for £3.69 every day but Sunday? Given my experience with the Harvester chain, I was sure this was going to be akin to eating cardboard with a side of mush. Finally, we could deflect their invitations no more and I steeled myself for a night of bad food. Well, the great thing about being a cynic is that you are never disappointed. If the food was bad, well, I was prepared. But the food was– :triumphant trumpets blare: –actually good! For £3.69, you get your choice of gamon, turkey or roast beef with a yorkshire pudding, roast potatoes, vegetables, and gravy. Listen: it’s not fine dining. But, the meat was properly seasoned and juicy. The vegetables were cooked well. It was a generous, satisfying portion of food for less than it would cost to cook at home. Four people had a pretty good meal and a drink for £20. I mean, c’mon. That’s a good value. It’s not just that the prices are so excellent for what you get, it’s that the place is genuinely pleasant to be in. The warren of rooms were mellow and inviting. There was a cross section of society there – OAPs, young guys gearing up for a night on the town, 30-somethings on a ladies night out and, like ourselves, couples taking a night off from cooking in an affordable and welcoming restaurant.

Well worth a visit just for the carvery alone. Can be a little bit busy at weekends and you can easily end up queuing at the bar. Drink prices are a little bit more than expensive than normal, although the food is excellent value(as well as excellent quality). Definitely one of my favourite eating places, although try to avoid weekends if you don’t like queuing :-)

Really good value and relaxed family restaurant. Loved it — the staff noticed that we were drenched and hung our coats to dry. Lovely feeling.

visited a few times, carvery is good value for money drink prices are normal pub prices, the carvery can be a bit messy at times, gravy spills not getting cleaned up etc. the pub is clean and tidy plenty of seating . car park takes about 50 cars so plenty of space outside, all in all i dont have a problem with the new farm you get what you pay for if you want a fancy meal then go to a fancy restaurant and pay fancy prices, if you want cheap and cheerful then try the new farm. queues for the carvery can get long round about lunch time so get in before 1pm or be prepared to wait.

This is extremely good value for money. Under £4 gets a full roast with all the trimmings(£6.50 on Sundays). The food is good and the service is fine. If there is a large group it is a good way to eat well cheaply.

If you fancy lunch at the carvery with good food and great prices you should try this place out. When I seen an advert for the carvery and the price was £3.50 per person i thought mmm some carvery that must be! but curiosity got the better of me and my hubby and I decided to give them a visit. I’m sure glad we did, the food is great and the price makes it all the better, it is now even cheaper at £3.43 per person(since the VAT was reduced). The only thing I advise, is to get in before 2pm as it gets very busy really quickly at lunch time. That kind of says it all to me, thumbs up for The New Farm ;)
