Ok all the things in the other review are true about the décor, but honestly that’s why I liked it! I was looking for a hole in the wall neighborhood pub/bar and I found it. I would give them 3 ½ stars if I could… it’s exactly what I would expect for what it is. My friend and I went in for the Sunday night singing show and it was great! Fun, very interactive and packed full of good fun everyday folks! It is a gay pub but it was a friendly mixed crowd, I am gay and I love it when the straights will come hang out with us too so that was nice. We went back in Monday night and the place was dead… the only 4 people in there were obviously regulars and it even seemed to annoy them that we came in and interrupted their X Factor night on the pub TV. Moral of the story stick to weekends here and really go Sunday around 6pm if you are looking for a great fun and easy going night!

The Merchant Pride is a LGBT friendly bar in the Candleriggs area of Glasgow. Glasgow does have some great gay bars and clubs and as such in comparison The Merchant Pride has a reputation for being a pretty tacky and naff. The décor is awful with neon lighting, too many garish colours and cheap looking tables and chairs. They only music I have ever heard played here are terrible dance versions of cheesy pop songs which ware thin very quickly! I find The Merchant Pride very stereotypical 90s gay and not in a good way! The couple who run the place are gay and should really know better! It is certainly not a recommended venue for a Friday or Saturday night. However if your looking for a LGBT friendly environment to chill out in on a week night then it’s not too bad. They serve decent food up until 7pm and there is usually some sort of entertainment on during the week such as cabaret.
