This is a shop I go to every now and then to have a browse when I am in the area, inevitably they have some bargain or other on their shelves, so great to see what they have. I had a bottle of Guinness Dublin porter for 50p, crazy! Thy sell snacks as well as drinks, and have a good selection of soft drinks too.

Although I don’t drink, I would like to give Jacobs its due and say that many people do love it. The off-license has amazing deals and they offer whoops section, where the alcohol is surprisingly cheap. I mean when a can of beer costs less than a can of coke, there is something going on. And I don’t just mean the white and green own label sort of stuff you get from supermarket own brands, no I mean the super good stuff that drinkers love, like Stella, Carlsberg, and so on. Jacobs seems to have a steady crowd of people looking for this outrageously cheap booze, and fantastic deals. I wonder how a little independent business can manage though.

Oh Jacob’s how i miss thee. having moved from this area about a year ago, i have grumbled continuously about the lack of it in my life… passing by local carry outs, checking out the offers i can usually be found mumbling«its good, but its no Jacob’s». Found on St George’s Road, Just down from Au natural, this place can usually be identified by the music blasting out of the wee speaker mounted shakily above the shop door. Once inside you may be forgiven for thinking that this place is no different from any other wee shop… WRONG! A seller of cheap beer(50p bottles of Miller anyone) and cheerful service, Jacobs is s gem of an independent store. For your options in the area, this place is the best. Forget the stupidly expensive Sainsbury’s or the Teso on Sauchiehall street… set sights for Jacobs and be ready for cheap booze like bliss.
