It’s Greggs. No better or any worse than any other Greggs. In fact, I’d go as far to say that if you like Greggs you’ll find it just kind of thing you’d like. It’s undergone a recent make over to include seating for, eh, six. So know you can pay a little extra and savour the Greggs ambience a little longer. To be honest some of the stuff they sell isn’t bad and it’s cheap. So I suppose not bad and cheap equals win. By my logic certainly.

By no means the best bakers, or indeed Greggs, in Glasgow. But, it is handy, local and — certainly — convenient. Therefore, it gets a review. While working in Clarkston as a Sales Administrator this was a regular haunt for me. Considering, many of the occasions in which I popped in here I was either: 1. Outrageously hungover. 2. Outrageously tired. 3. Outrageously hungry. or 4. Outrageously bored. Therefore, a tuna crunch(or a sausage roll if that was all I could manage) and french fancy out of here made many a day easier, a little bit more bearable and go just that little bit faster. What can I say? My ‘tin of soup and dry roll’ economic and calorie friendly routine didn’t last long, despite my best efforts.

I’ve always found that this Greggs has a particularly good selection of cakes and sweet treats and around Valentines day they had huge shortbread Jammie Dodgers which were yummy! I usually pop in here before heading for the Clarkston train when I’m venturing into town, it’s literally a 30 second walk from the station making it pretty handy if you’ve realised you’ve forgotten your lunch, you can nip in here before heading to work and you’re sorted. In recent years I’ve gone of pretty much all of Greggs sandwiches, but they do have a large selection here and out of convenience it’s pretty good.

After many years of constant Greggs-bashing, the advent of the chilli steak lattice along with a few good sandwiches recently changed my opinion somewhat. After one particularly satisfying lattice I almost contemplated giving one of their shops a 5 star review, something which until very recently I’d never have thought possible. So after yesterday’s visit to Greggs at Clarkston Toll I was disappointed but almost relieved to find things back to normal. The chilli lattice was gone from the menu, the sandwiches inedible, and the grunting staff were of a species that couldn’t by any stretch of the imagination be classified as human. That’s the Greggs I know and loath, I’m glad to have them back.
