The Gorbals Library and Learning Centre is a fairly new library, and is a community hub for the area as it is far more than a library. They have community classes in a computer room in the centre of the library, which have sliding doors to provide privacy and noise control for the classes, an area at the rear of the library which is used for groups such as community crafting groups(they were making Halloween bunting on the day I visited) and a kids area which is nicely decorated. The range of books is good, and offers a different selection from other libraries as I notice there is a big range of craft books and sports books(is it weird that I like to visit different libraries to browse? A harmless hobby, unless you forget to take books back to the library. by the way when you join the Glasgow libraries you get membership citywide, and can borrow and return things to any library, and also sign up for an email alert service to make sure you are reminded when books are due back). There are lots of PC’s for public use, and plenty of comfy seats to lounge in. I like the local history resources, they have a display of photographs of the surrounding area as well. This is not a quiet library by any means, but for me, the useful feature is the desk area at the front of the library and the free wifi. Great for working, with headphones!
