I know the lady Anne from Andersons flowers, which is my claim to fame. lol, I live quite a ssedate life as you can see. She is a great jolly and friendly woman who can never do enough to help, or give you enough advise on whatever you would like to know about florestry! I may have just made up a word, combining an attempt at forestry and florists. I am sure Anne would be proud. The flowers here are now quite vast in selection since the florist dedicated shop opened next door to the fresh fruit and veg shop. And you are so sure to find any of the usual seasonal beauties right before other shops get them, like daffodils at easter, roses at valentines, wreaths at christmas. People dont buy enough flowers anymore and they do make such a difference to a room.

If you’ve been to the Anderson’s greengrocers down on Byres Road, then you’ll know that they sell a nice selection of flowers outside their shop. WELL, up on Queen Margaret Drive, Anderson’s have taken it all a step further and have a whole shop dedicated to flowers next door to the greengrocers branch there. Now, I was very pleasantly surprised to see that the shop is actually quite stylish and fancy. I’ll admit that I was expecting an extension of the slightly rustic flower pots outside the Byres Road Anderson’s branch, and not a fully fledged florist. Lucky me! The flowers are wonderfully fresh and relatively inexpensive. Great to pick up something for the lady in your life — whether it’s your girlfriend, your mum, or just yourself. Hey, we all need a bit of a treat now and then!

We all like flowers and we all like going to a little local shop so what is not to like about Andersons Flowers? Well in one simple word the answer is nothing. The flowers are always fresh and they are quite reasonably priced. I once went in to buy a nice potted plant for a friend’s birthday and was really happy with the service. The friendly 20-something lady behind the till was great in helping me to pick the right plant, explaining how long it would live, how often I should water it and the best plant food for the one I decided on buying. It is also much cheaper than Roots, Fruits and Flowers on Byers Road.
