Elite Event: Aloha At The Tiki Bar

I walked in, was given a plastic flower lei, and quickly located the sunglasses. Obviously, this night and I were meant to be.
A great Elite night out! I brought a non-​Yelp friend (but a fellow San Franciscan) along with me, and we had an awesome time!
I hadn’t been to the Tiki Bar before, but I will certainly be coming back after this! The interior may be a bit spare in comparison to the tiki bars back home, due to space, but the booze is well-​stocked and the bartenders know what they’re doing. Not only that, but the mai tai cocktail lesson we recieved, based on the original recipe of the drink, yielded a really nicely balanced goblet of boozy tastiness. I appreciate a tiki bar that can balance kitsch with drink quality.
Kudos to the fugu lanterns. And kudos to Chris D. & Co. Another success!

Aloha! ‘Twas another fabby Elite Event night oot, with cocktails a-​plenty and great company and banter as always.
The cocktails were delicious and we also got a chance to make our own Mai Tai in a cocktail masterclass. I’ve never seen Angela B. and myself look so serious, these were serious cocktails. Hehe! We got to do the, lime squeezing, drink pouring, cocktail shaking, lot. Loved it!
I did find though that the drinks there are mega pricey, a cocktail normally ranges around the £¾ range. £11/​12 for a jug which you’ll get plenty to share round. These start from £6/​7 — £111. Ouch!
I was a wee bit disappointed there wasn’t any food to soak up them cocktails. There was popcorn but that went mighty fast. I did get over this very quickly as the cocktails went down.

As soon as I was handed a flower lei and told about the free punch I knew this was gonna be a super-​duper night.
I’ve only been once before to the Tiki Bar and was almost a year ago to this day and I really don’t know why I haven’t been back in between… I love cocktails. I LOVE their cool mugs (skull one being my favourite). Nice staff. Great décor. Good music. The only reason I can think of as to maybe why is the price of the cocktails ~ now all cocktails are pricey (which is annoying as hell) but I think the maximum you should pay for an average one is about £5 (£7/​8 for a champagne one) Maybe I’m still living in da past (hello! it’s quite nice back here) but anyway, I digress, this place is my kinda joint and as far as I know there are no other Tiki themed bars in Glasgow so this one truly is the best!
Chris (or Baron Von Chrizzle as he shall now be known) put on yet another splendid night ~ the cocktail masterclass was not only informative but tasty and fun. Took me right back to my bar-​tending days of yore…*sigh* Never had a Mai Tai before and probably wouldn’t have ever chosen one but now I have (proudly) made one and tasted that crazy juice I now know how blinkin’ tasty they are ~ it’s all about the orgeat syrup man… that stuff looks well suspicious (I’m not saying what it reminds me of… use your imagination) but it tastes divine!
There was popcorn on the tables but i think I ate about 2 handfuls before it went and I’m glad I had some toast before I came out coz after all those lethal cocktails if it were not for that toast I’d have been well steamin’. Oof.
Started with some Unilocal punch, then had a gorgeous Pina Colada, my Mai Tai and then later on Chris gave us some bizarre but tasty Lilt based cocktail ~ totally tropical taste man. They don’t skimp on the booze in their cocktails (as I found out when I was here before ~
the next day) so maybe the price reflects this so fair enough.
All in all another super Unilocal event ~ big thanks to Chris and the Unilocal crew and of course the Tiki Bar dudes and as that big metal guy the Terminator said, I’ll be back.

This Unilocal night was the best one I have attended thus far and it’ll take a lot to beat it. I was really impressed by all the information we received about the background of Tiki, and I LOVED the cocktail masterclass (although my guns are seriously lacking in shaking power!) We stayed in TIKi until closing sampling a few of the cocktails on the menu, and also getting to try some that the mixologist made up for us. Pricewise, I didn’t think it was overly expensive in comparison to cocktails in other establishments, and when you realise that the ingredients in your drink really are the crème de la crème it makes it all worthwhile. What made the night for me was the the knowledgeable staff and the flower garlands of course, which i forgot i was wearing with my Unilocal sunnies when I got my cab home. All in all, another fab Unilocal event! Well done Chris.

Big fan of the cocktails here, but not the deposit for the tiki mugs!
Great event though, really enjoyed mixing my own cocktail. It felt like I achieved my dream of finally being on the Generation Game.
Throw friendly staff and a great mix of Unilocalers in the mix. and it’s a recipe for success.
Great to catch up with folk.
Would like to sample the food from this place. Feel like my fully formed opinion of the joint will not surface until such time.

I have been to the Tiki bar before and always had a great night so I was really looking forward to this event and it did not disappoint.
Getting behind the bar to make my own Mai Tai was amazing but what really made my night was the knowledgable staff who where happy to serve up a cocktail based on your own personal taste! These guys really know their stuff and even managed to get me drinking a cocktail made with egg white’s!
What a fantastic evening, spectacular drinks and great bar staff!

I have to say that Tiki Bar really know how to throw a party.
Knowledgable folks behind the bar, fabulous tasty drinks and a chance to make your own Mai Tai made this a spectacular evening.
I have been at Tiki before and it seems to be turning into a Bath Street regular for some folks.
I think, what they did tonight is a real indication of some of the strengths of this place. Showing off the excellent ingredients that go into these stunning concoctions and getting the folks behind the bar to demonstrate some of their knowledge of Polynesian Mixolog — that is a great combo.
There is a lot more happening at this place than just a couple rattan mats on the wall and some puffer fish hanging from the ceiling. The guys behind the bar with their passion and knowledge are the real strength of this place and it showed tonight.
Well done to all of the folks who put this together. Chris and Crew — hats off.
