Situated opposite the Theatre Royal it’s a great location for a bite to eat before you take in a show. A small group of three friends went here for dinner and we ordered from the pre-theatre menu — two courses for £11.95 Malaysian, Cantonese and Thai fusion menu. The food was good — it was fresh and arrived piping hot. I can’t go as far as saying it was awesome, but it certainly wasn’t bland. As Asian restaurants go, there are better ones in Glasgow. But the staff are friendly and attentive without being intrusive. And I do love the décor. My criticism is that on a quiet Sunday early-evening, we were one of only three tables, there was no music and it was lacking an atmosphere.

My pal and I came here due to a cheap Itison voucher I had. It was OK, however pretty dead, the food was fairly bland and arrived much too fast. we both had the same chicken dish, which bizarrely contained apples?! The staff were lovely, however I would never pay the £10−15 per main prices outwith a deal.

My friend took me for a wee Itison deal, and obviously it had to be the evening half of Bath St was closed off due to high winds knocking the sh** out of Marks Hotel roof, so after having to navigate round town, when what should have been a straight road from the Pot Still to the other end of Hope St, we finally arrived a mere 5 minutes late for our booking. The staff we so friendly and welcoming, and unaware of the closure obstructing the route to their workplace. As there was only 2 other sets of diners we were seated immediately. The décor is very grand, and if it wasn’t so dark, it would probably be very warm. We presented our voucher and ordered some drinks. It didn’t take long to choose our mains, which in turn, didn’t take long at all to arrive. In fact, it was disconcertingly quick. No more than about 5 minutes had passed from order to arrival, raising concerns about the means of cooking, and freshness of the dish. We’d both ordered a chicken dish(I cannot for the life remember the name, but it had apples and pineapples) which was a basic sweet and sour esque dish with some fruit on top. There wasn’t much flavour, which, was to be expected from something that was probably pulled out of the fridge and nuked. If it wasn’t for the lovely service from the staff I wouldn’t even rate this one star. The quality of the food certainly does not live up to the price(around £10+ per main), and I certainly won’t be visiting again.

So this was a second choice for lunch today. I had agreed with the girls in my team we would go out for a quick lunch catch up and although our first choice was closed Dragon I certainly did not disappoint. we decided on the 2 courses and drink for £7.95 which I believed to be a nice offer given the size of the portions. I ended up ordering the black pudding pancakes and beef stir fry. The food was lovely and service friendly. I would definitely recommend for anyone wanting to fit in a decent lunch time catch up.

good company but a disappointing meal and service: the best things were the starters-spring rolls-I often think I should just order starters!

I didn’t really like there food. Sure the food was tasty due to the amount of barbeque sauce style flavours… but everything was deep fried — i ordered a prawn stir fry dish and the prawns came battered. My partner and i didn’t feel too crash hot that night after such an oily meal. p.s i ordered a vegetable pancake– and got deep fried string rolls! Ha!

I booked a table at Dragon i for my boyfriend and I after walking past for the hundredth time saying, we really should go there. The menu on the door boast the many achievements of Dragon i and there rather peculiar connections to Herbalife. A bit confused but wanting to give it a shot it was about time we went. I never really liked Chinese food, so the menu looked a bit boring and same old. The price! Oh yes lets talk about the price, it was really quite expensive, that similar to what I have paid for in some of the best restaurants in London. I cannot stand paying alot for food in a restaurant when it is substandard. Thankfully Dragon i was not, each of our meals were delicately prepared and for me exceeded expectations. I would like to recommend this restaurant but in the same breathe would not due to the expense. There are better places to go in Glasgow, but for Chinese food this is the best I have found.

We went to the Dragon i on an evening in the middle of the week. There was something a bit cold and empty about the atmosphere. The lack of people, music and minimalistic design ruined my first impressions. The menu is relatively small but all dishes look equally as tasty and interesting. Depending on what you expect to pay at a Chinese raustaurant, you might be a little shocked at paying £17 a course. My sister and her boyfriend love coming here. At the weekends when it gets a bit busier, I can imagine it to be quite a warm and romantic place for a couple to come for a meal and not be scared to dress up a little. You won’t be disappointed with the food. Everything was cooked to perfection, and although you might have to dig into your pockets a bit deeper, I would say that it’s worth every penny for the food alone.

Chinese fusion at it’s best. A most unusual and tasty menu. The surroundings were exquisite and the food was top quality. A tad expensive but they have a pre theatre menu available, and it is right across the road from the theatre royal. I would recommend it to the adventurous among you, but don’t go expecting to find a curry — you won’t.

This is a western/oriental mix of cuisine, so many dishes and lots of new ideas. The staff and service is efficient and really world class.
