it is ministered by the franciscan order and is named after blessed john — born in duns in the scottish borders –at the time of william wallace and robert the bruce
there is a fresco painting of him in the vatican by raphael
his theology of ‘god is love’ perhaps is the reason why this church is guardian of the relics of st valentine
he was also the first to defend the dogma of the immaculate conception
its is a fairly small but very busy church
