Big Al’s American Diner

I went in with a mate for lunch, we had drove by a few times and it looked pretty nice and I’ll admit I was quite impressed with the themed decoration inside — that’s where my positive experience ended.
The restaurant itself was pretty much dead so I expected quick service, there were two people in front of us but we still waited in the queue for what felt like forever, the food itself was overpriced to start with but I thought it may be good quality in which case I could justify the price but it turned out to be far from it.
The chicken burger I ordered was very dry, like it had been sitting under a single 50 watt lightbulb for three weeks, the «seasoned» fries were nothing short of completely and utterly unsatisfying and tasteless — they were worse than micro chips.
The staff were pretty young, but that didn’t put my off, I’m relatively young myself so I didn’t doubt their ability based on their age, but they were just plain bad, this day was a Sunday and the chef looked like he had a heavy Saturday night with about an hours sleep before work.
It really annoys me that people obviously put so much effort into the business to get it started, obviously have went to a great extent to renovate and decorate the place, but then stick 6 ¹⁶⁄₁₇ year olds on with 0 experience and expect people to flock back because they have (uncomfortable) leather 60’s diner style seating, people come to eat, not to reminisce about their youth, that’s what cinemas are for, I came here to eat, and I was disappointed — based on my experience I won’t be back. I really hope the owner reads this — sack your chef, hire someone good — make good food and people WILL come back, don’t, and it’s almost a certainty you will go bankrupt.
