A pricy wee bookshop specialising in contemporary art and other such literature. I’ve picked up some rare finds in here for friends, but never found much that make the hairs on my neck stand up, but I’m not an arty type chappy. A funky wee place that is only open a few days a week, located inside the Contemporary Centre for Arts on Sauchiehall Street.

Aye Aye books is located inside the Contemporary Centre for Arts(CCA), and calls itself the only independent bookshop in Glasgow. While this may be true, it’s also probably the least accessible bookshop in Glasgow. It’s very cool and stocks all sorts of beautiful(ly expensive!) art books and magazines. While I wish I could say I sifted through a few and picked out one that I fancied, I soon realised that as much as I want it to be, this place really isn’t my scene. For art students, it must be an absolute treasure trove. I imagine that if it was full of such beautiful books… but about classical films, I’d spend at least half my time here, and the other half waiting til they called me to say that they had a delivery of new stock. It really is a lovely wee shop, though, and a great addition to the CCA.

This place can only really be referred to as a specialist book store. Now i would love to say that i frequent this place regularly for my dose of culture, arts and other type things, but alas i just ain’t that cultured. Self proclaimed as Glasgow’s only independent art bookstore(with good reason?) you can find this wee shop just in the main foyer in the CCA on Sauchiehall Street. Yes its cool, funky, trendy, artsy and other ‘y’s’but jeez is it price. Y… Ok, so this place is aimed almost entirely at the Art School crowd and probably does ok out of it, lets face it by selling one book they probably cover their costs. Worth a look if your attempting to pull off the«cultured» look.
