Adios Fish and Chips

I ordered a pizza, which was nice and Spaghetti Carbonara. The Carbonara was disgusting… it was floating in yellow oil!!! Carbonara is supposed to be creamy and sadly mine wasn’t!!!either the sauce had split or the person making it doesn’t know how to make it. Also ordered chips which were hard, pale and also floating in oil… yuk!
If all this is bad enough, I’d phoned my order in to pick up. I arrived 20 minutes later and had to wait a further 30 minutes! No, I won’t be going back.

Adiós is housed in the infamously awfully designed St James Retail Park at Hairmyres, East Kilbride (it’s painted bright yellow and looks like it belongs in New Mexico given the styling).
However don’t let that put you off. They do some decently priced lunchtime deals which include a can of Barr’s fizzy pop (there are several varieties to choose from) and all of their main meals are reasonably priced too, although certainly not cheap.
The food itself is really good, most of the stuff including the fish is cooked fresh to order, so it’s not the best place to visit if you really are in a hurry — but the freshly cooked food does mean that the fish is really lovely and the chips are nice and not too greasy either. It’s definitely the best chippy I’ve visited in East Kilbride so far.
Yes they do charge for heinz sauce pockets and it is expensive, but you can get the standard chippy red sauce for free! and the brown sauce too!

Housed in the Turkish Prison that is the St James Centre, pound for pound this must be the worst chippy in E.K. After they’ve added on a surcharge for food shortages, paying by card & Heinz tomato ketchup expect to pay over £7 for an ‘average’ fish supper & then wait 20mins while they make it. Peak or off peak, this chippy almost NEVER has fish &/​or chips ready & the staff are generally ignorant & unapologetic. I’m local but would rather travel to Marinis in The Murray Square which is o.k.

Excellent and delivered to the front door. The Special Haddock was just that special!

Well worth a try — great new venue, well fitted out, clean fresh and airy, with friendly staff. We had fish, king prawns and pasta, all freshly cooked and well worth the wait. We’ll be back.
