I do really like this café — it’s directly downstairs from my office which is marvellous, and has a whole host of things to serve whatever craving I may be having. From soups, quiche and salads to more(often very-much-needed) unhealthy things like chips, toasties and an extremely delicious peach tart(nom!) the café also sells various juices, chocolate bars, crisps and… fruit, if you’re into fruit I guess. Everything’s reasonably priced and it’s mostly pretty good — nothing fancy but who really needs fancy when it’s lunchtime and all you want to do is shove something tasty directly into your face? My favourite thus far is their tuna and cheese toastie which comes with salad, perfect for lunch and you can even add chips if you’re feeling like a piggy! The staff are really nice — it’s a family-run café and they work hard. Open 6 days a week to mainly serve the various people using the Adelphi centre, the café also serves the students at the college building next door and whoever else happens to be passing by. I’ve yet to try their hot drink offerings because we have all of the coffee up in my office, but having read Alison M’s review I’ll need to give it a try! I have to say that this is really more of a 3.5 stars, but I’ll bump it to a 4 because they just gave my office a big bag of chocolates.(YAYBRIBERY!) Although the reason we received the chocolates is because they totally cremated my boss’ lunch and still charged her for it, so y’know. Not really bribery. But they’re nice so we have of course forgiven them, and are also booked in to have a wee Christmas lunch here at the end of December, which I’m really looking forward to :)

The café is a pleasantly decorated space within the Adelphi Centre, although you do not have to be attending a class or meeting here to visit(there is an entrance off the car park). There are comfy couches, as well as tables and chairs in the café and it also sells cards, has an ice cream freezer with small tubs and also have a bookcase with thing to read whilst relaxing. I would give the staff four stars for friendliness and efficiency, but the café was is a bit ‘roll and sausage’ fried smelling for me to stay for food(hence only 3 stars). I did notice that they have a nice selection of daily specials, and from what I saw the portions were very hearty. I’d pop in for coffee again if I happened to be in the area(it was strong and most reasonably priced).
