A Little visited gem hidden away in Exeter. A short walk from the town centre but very worth it. Awesome staff and great ‘vintage’ items, Picked up an awesome oldskool camera lens for a bargain price. Great open plan ‘outside’ area inside. Will be here again :-)

Aaah! I remember being 15 and thinking those pink bags were the coolest thing. In fact, I still do. The arcade in which The Real Mccoy sits feels a little bit magical and it’s a great pastime to go and have a rummage around the pretty dresses and waistcoats. I used to think I’d get my wedding dress here and, while this hasn’t quite turned into reality, I have bought many a good item(my first purchase here being a lime green boa which I thought was the business) and my partner has too. If you want to get some vintage haul and then go for a pretty decent cup of coffee then head here!

The Real McCoy Café is in The Real McCoy in the Arcade in Exeter’s Fore Street. The café serves breakfast all day as well as good food and speciality coffees. It can seat 60 with tables in the courtyard as well. It is a shrine to Levis jeans. The shop specialises in vintage retro and evening wear. There is something for everbody. When we go we like to browse the costumes and second hand clothes where you can pick up a real bargain. Then take your time in the Real McCoy café, which is licensed as well. It is a lovely way to relax from the retail therapy. The café serves breakfast all day as well as good food and speciality coffees. It can seat 60 with tables in the courtyard as well. It is a shrine to Levis jeans. The shop has two floors and very helpful staff. They have their own fancy dress costumes for hire as well, with a huge range. If you wish there is the oportunity to buy costumes as well and there are loads of accesssories. It is open 10am — 6pm Monday to Friday but not on Sundays

This is a fantastic shop! I love it! If you are looking for something really quirky or a vintage item you are sure to find it. They have beautiful coats downstairs too. I bought a really great dress for a 60’s themed party and it was very reasonably priced! Upstairs they have a range of funky t-shirts and great jeans.

Not a bad shop really, but basically it mostly sells charity shop type stuff at surprisingly high prices. The clientel pretty much consists of students putting together wacky outfits for pub crawls. Although it is by no means a good deal, if you want to make a decent fancy dress outfit, and you’re not going to wear a lousy plastic mask, you either need to plan ahead and make it yourself, or just take the financial hit and buy it at this place. Whether or not everything is clean when you buy it is questionable, and in the case of, for example, hats, I’d say wash it before you where it.

Definitely the first place to look for something unique for that special party, or fancy-dress occasion. Packed to the rafters with vintage and retro dresses and suits downstairs, then more crazy fancy-dress nonsense and tonnes of Levis on the upstairs– a great atmosphere of retro fashion!

The Real McCoy has been selling vintage clothes, in their distinct pink carrier bags, to the hip cats of Exeter for as long as I can remember.(Thats about 23 years, but possibly longer.) This is the place to go for an unusual ball dress or suit, for vintage fancy dress or just for something unique. The prices are ok, don’t expect charity shop bargains but you won’t be ripped off either. The shop does have some bargain buckets and is especially good for jeans.

i love this shop. as it is tucked away near the bottom of fore street it is well away from th ehustle and bustle of the main shopping areas and is a haven for vintage clothing im always guaranteed to find a bargain whenever i go ther. it stocks some gorgeous alternative to the high street clothing. the neighbouring shops are also lovely and i can easily spend a couple of hours browsing.

This place is mental. Vintage clothing, fancy dress, jewellery, wigs and madness. Takes a bit of rummaging but its a total goldmine. They have everything you need to make the perfect outfit and if they don’t, there will be a better alternative in store. Go and have a shufty
