Devon is not on top of its Unilocal game, so I’m out to review all the places I’ve been to help it out. I’ve been to Jack twice now, both times on business dinners. First off, you need to call and book a table in advance. You arrive close to your time of booking, but don’t plan to eat at that time. You take a seat in the social waiting lounge. A server will bring you menus and get you a local beer while you look over the menu. When you’re ready to order, you do so from the waiting area. Once your order is stated by the kitchen, you get a table. This is such a great system for socializing. It’s much nicer to sit on a comfy chair in a group versus being stuck at a dinner table. The food is quite delicious, but the menu is very limited. I’ve had the grilled goat cheese*, a roasted chicken dish, the seasonal vegetable side, and the posh prawn cocktail. All was delicious, but on the last visit I really wanted something light and lean, but they don’t have that. I was thinking a pretty simple salad with some grilled chicken. Not an option here. It’s a gastropub and they only do that style of food. *If you order the grilled goat cheese as a main you will get 2x the goat cheese and some potatoes. That isn’t clear on the menu, but that’s what happens. Still, the food they turn out is mostly local and they donate a portion of certain food(I think the fish and chips) to a local charity. It’s definitely a great option in the Exeter area. I must leave you with one final note. Although I’m not a fan of sweets, Most of my colleagues and customers order their sticky toffee pudding. It is apparently one of the better ones in the area.

This has to be our favourite trip out to dine. Easy reach of our South Devon home, can always find an excuse to go there. Just had a small Sunday lunch –do not normally go on Sundays as it must be busy, but found the food just as amazing as the other evening visits Keep it up !!! Love it !

For many years we have visited and enjoyed the JITG. Recently, we had a brilliant meeting over a delicious meal. I do hope they continue to pride themselves on locally sourced produce. Staff — friendly Value — fine Location — You have to drive Food — mostly brilliant I would take the family to Honiton and round up the trip with lunch at JITG.

This place was just a couple of miles away from my office — and it was nice to come here for a treat on a lunchtime! THe lunch menu is very good — the home-made soups and breads are great. The food is very good quality — I didn’t get to another pub in the vicinity that was anywhere near as good in terms of quality. It’s well worth the effort to come out here if you’re Exeter based.

I went here with some friends from work and can honestly say the food and atmosphere was superb. We had a large party but they were able to cater for us all on one very long large table in our own room. The inside is decorated to a high standard, with lots of interesting features. Although the meals did feel a little pricey when we first looked at the menu, when we received the food we knew why the price was justified. I felt that the standard of food was much better than any pub locally and it was all locally produced.

Lovely atomosphere in this pub situated just outside of Exeter.(10mins at most) There is a large car park at the rear so no need to drive around searching for parking. The food is great! They have a choice of a restaurant menu and a pub menu and you can mix the two. You also have the option of eating a totally Devon menu(shown on menu in bold) for a set price which uses produce from the local area.

This gastro pub is warm welcoming and provides great food. Went there recently and the staff bent over backwards to make the night enjoyable for us. The food was amzing and although more than the average restaurant well worth the extra pennies. The décor of the pub is very homely and makes you feel like your out in the country. Would definitely reccommend

Traditional décor but consistent, high quality award winning restaurant food. About 5 miles out of Exeter to the east of the city and close to Exeter airport. Good friendly owners who know how to run a quality establishment. Highly Recommended

Great Service. Great food and caters for business needs as well. have been eating here for more years than i can remember and the restaurant has gone from strength to strength some may say that the meals are a little pricy my view is that you get what you pay for and at the Jack I always walk away satisfied.
