Nice people but food very very oily, my friend ditched his and went to the Chinese! Chapatis were like rubber. Their food did nothing to refect the glorious culinary cuisine of India… Not Authentic, greasy, deeply disappointed.

I went to the Light of India recently on a stag do as we were staying quite near to Heavitree. We were in a group of 17 and they were extremely accomodating, having set up tables in a U shape in a room upstairs. Being in a separate room from the main dining area was brilliant, as we were able to be noisy without having to worry about disturbing other customers. The food was very good, although some of the dishes were hotter than I’d have expected — the pathia particularly. The only downside was that as they were very busy downstairs, we had to wait a long time between courses and for drinks to arrive. The staff were great, bringing the stag a double brandy on the house and challenging one of us to see if they could beat him at downing a pint(the waiter won convincingly.) Two courses and four or five beers came in at around £25 a head including tip, which isn’t cheap, but isn’t what I’d consider expensive. All in all, a good experience.
