I recently visited Chillies for dinner with a few relatives. The staff seemed slightly reluctant to seat us at first — it was an almost empty restaurant(around 6.45) and we were asked if we had reserved. The food arrived very promptly(but not not too fast that makes you wonder how they did it so fast) and was very tasty. I’ve struggled to find an Indian restaurant in Epsom that have been half decent so was pleasantly surprised with Chillies. I would definitely eat here again. The drop in star is that i think maybe the staff could have been slightly friendlier when we arrived. They seemed to perk up when they noticed we were writing something down and they came over(not very subtly) to have a look at the review that we were writing in a pad. I might use that trick again for quick service!

On a recent visit to the UK we visited this restaurant with my sister, niece and her boyfriend. The restaurant was very quiet at 7pm but had almost completely filled by 7.30 — worth making a reservation, especially at the weekend.(The restaurant was recommended by another reviewer, Yee Gan O) The atmosphere was calm and friendly and the décor crisp and clean. The waiting staff were attentive — until a little later Phil Tuffnell, his wife and some friends arrived and the service at our table became a little slower — especially when we wanted to pay and leave! The food was delicious, we tried the Chicken Chattanad and Chicken Xacuti — dishes we’d not tried elsewhere and they were both absolutely fantastic. We would certainly recommend this restaurant and hope to return next time we are in the UK

Salsa evening means another food search before the dancing! After lucking out with El Rincon last week, my salsa friend Hilary and I came back to Tattenham Crescent, just a few doors down to Chillis Just recently, we’ve found quite a few independent Indian restaurants in the are serving some good original dishes — we’ve enjoyed good meals at Cinnamon Spice in Epsom and Dhansiri in Ewell., for example. So it was nice to see some unique dishes on the specialities section of the menu. We chose the chicken dhakeshwari, which was a mild dish garnished with mango and almond. It was like a pasanda but the mango added a nice fruity note to the sauce. Our other main dish was the chicken chettinad, which included roasted coconut and mixed Indian seeds in a hot sauce. The coconut added a nutty flavour and the heat of the chettinad made a nice contrast to the dhakeshwari I enjoyed the distinctive flavours in the main dishes and the accompaniments — papadums, mango lassi, naan and pilau rice — were all delicious Service was friendly and efficient. We will be back to try more dishes on the specialities list
