Dropped in on way back from hols. A new person was being trained, I hope they survive Derby Day!

This wonderful old pub, which stands at a prominent position overlooking Epsom Downs famous racetrack, is a great venue for a cross-generation family lunch. The great thing about a Beefeater is that you know what is going to be on offer, and for what they offer they do very well. On Sunday it was packed at lunchtime and only started to thin out around 4.30 but the staff very happily coped with the throughput of customers and did so with large smiles on their faces. The décor is modern with lots of colourful abstracts on the walls. Their speciality is chargrilled food and you couldn’t fault the steak or the fish. You can have chips with everything if you want, but also swap the chips for wild rice, boiled potatoes or piri piri rice. The Sunday roast is less than £6. The conservatory overlooks the race course and in good weather you can follow your meal with a stroll around the track.
