Been here a few times after a walk round Myddleton and Forty Hall. It’s always a welcome end to either a hot or rainy walk. Have had Sunday lunch here which was OK but giving it 4 stars because the atmos is good and the staff very friendly.

Have visited the Pied bull on several occasions. Food is well presented although overpriced for portions. Only downside is the owner. Miserable woman with no customer service skills. Have twice visited and had to send steak back. First time ordered medium rare and came back well done and tough. I politely complained. Couldn’t believe it when she came back 10 mins later with a piece of steak on a small plate which she put back on my plate with now cold chips and cold mushrooms still sitting there. 2nd occasion. tough horrible steak. This time said I wasn’t going to pay for it. She didn’t even come to our table to apologize. Waiting and bar staff are wonderful. Ring before you go to check if owner is on duty, which she often isn’t. you will enjoy yourself much more without her miserable company

Had lunch at the Pied Bull today — we were a party of 6. The starters were good, if overpriced, and came quickly. The main course took longer to arrive and was pretty much entirely disappointing. The courgette & leek bake was very good and was supposed to come with garlic bread. This turned out to be 3 minuscule slices of a french stick 2 of which the waiter dropped onthe steps on the way to the table and did not offer to replace. We asked for some moe but it never mateialised. The goats cheese, grape and croûton salad was basically a large bowl of lettuce with a nice dressing and with about 3 grapes, 3 small cubes of cheese and a few croutons — not good enough for the price. The roast chicken dinner was dried out and the stuffing ball would have made a good shot putt! It’s such a shame that this lovely pub can’t provide better service/quality as it’s a geat location and we used to really enjoy eating there. Don’t think we’ll be back in a hurry.

We went to the Pied Bull for sunday lunch several months ago, it is a lovely pub with parking near forty hall and whitewebbs. We were a group of 4 adults and 2 older children. All was good except those who ordered roast lamb got meat that was cold bloody & so tough you could not chew it. We asked the waiter if he could replace it and he returned with the same plates that had been put under the grill, the yorkshires and spuds were now burned and the lamb was still very tough & not edible. i did not complain again, i ended up eating half my husbands steak pie which was very good, because i was starving. I might go back here because it’s a nice pub but wont be having the lamb, i will report back here when i do.

I had not visited for some time but it is still a superb Pub with adequate parking. It has a decent range of beers and has plenty outdoor seating when the weather is kind. The menu is adequate and reasonably priced for the London area. The burgers are superb. The Liver was very good but some onions and more gravy would have really made it top class

If my grandmother does not eat a meal at exactly 1pm every day, she turns savage and tyrannical. Things were looking bad after the scenic route to Enfield from St. Albans took longer than expected. Fortunately, en route to visit the gardens in Capel Manor College down the street, I was able to spot the Pied Bull before things got out of hand. The monster reared its head, and I did an immediate U-turn to feed the beast. Expecting the usual pub mystery meats covered in clotted cheese, we were surprised to find that this establishment considers itself something of a gastro-pub serving a variety of odd«fusion» dishes, including a crêpe-like ratatouille pancake, decent vegetable purée soup, chorizo covered in what apparently passes here for haloumi cheese, and a tuna steak that is of course cooked all the way through until it is dead, since, although great strides have been made, you Brits have a long way to go before you become acclimated to seared raw fish. Not a bad diversion. My grandmother was serene as butterfly fluttering about the gardens the rest of the afternoon.

Charming country pub. Looks like its been recently refurbished. Serves excellent choice of food, we had 2 mains from the specials menu(roast lamb and chicken) it was absolutely delicious! I would recommend this pub to everyone, very friendly staff, great service would definitely come back again!
