The private, tree-lined drive really brings back memories of my school, we too had a tree lined drive into school, and I’d walk down that drive merrily everday with my friends… Aaah innocent times!!! This place really is a peaceful haven on the outskirts of Chester. Set within 27 acres of mature woodland and well-kept gardens, the Macdonald Craxton Wood Hotel is a rare find in to the deed. A warm and cosy retreat set apart from the everyday world. The location is a perfect one for a hotel should you decide to visit my lovely North of West on business or pleasure. The golden triangle of cities, Chester, Liverpool«The Capital of Culture 2008» and Manchester are only short drives away. You can use this place as an ideal launchpad to visit any of the major attractions, sporting and musical events taking place in the region. An 18m indoor pool, sauna, jacuzzi is enough pull for me and it even houses an AA rosette restaurant, brilliant! What’s more there is even a spa for your better half to relax and get pampered in!

I stayed here for a two-day conference about a year ago. It was a very pleasant place to stay: the grounds were pleasant, the food was good and the facilities for the conference were OK(we were in a large room which was a little drafty but apart from that it was fine). The rooms were very comfortable and the staff were keen to make our stay a successful one. Because I didn’t pay, I don’t know what the prices were like(although I distinctly recall that the bar was rather pricey). All in all, a good place for a conference.
