I am the Raeburn’s new neighbour, since I literally just moved in a few door’s down. Of course, it was only right that I popped in to make friends with our new local. I like that this is a no-frills pub. I feel like I could rock up in my jeans and t-shirt with a good book and nestle in the corner with a gin and tonic. As it’s usually quite quiet, it’s perfect for a solo visit. Plus, they’ve lots of cushions. And nooks. I like cushions and nooks. The interior is kitsch, heavily appealing to the music lover. I hear they do live music, but on all the evenings I’ve passed by, I haven’t heard a peep just yet. Hopefully, that’s something that’s a more regular thing for the Raeburn in the new year. Now, let me fetch a good book. — Make mine and gin and tonic!

If I lived here, I’d become a regular. Great selection. Small but cordial crowd. Bartender was a good, friendly bloke. Solid pub.

This is where I end up when I require a no bs beer. It’s not overly fancy. It’s not pretty, or cutting edge. It’s a pub… but it’s a good one. First and foremost, it’s tucked a little off the beaten path and though they have good signage, it may take you a heartbeat to find this little spot. The hours are fantastic — which is likely why I found it in the first place. Working from home, you often seek out a spot to plunk at 2pm with a beer that is both quiet(check!), reasonably priced(check!) and open(check!). Most of the other spots in the area can only knock off one or two of these options at any given time, so this place is a nice respite. They’ve got a good selection of brew, a decently priced pint and enough room to stretch out the ol’ work materials. Though it hasn’t become my local for an AFTER work quite yet, it’s definitely on the way. In the meantime, it’s a good place to grab a quiet drink after an afternoon in Stockbridge.
