My wife and I stayed at this hotel for three days while visiting Edinburgh. The hotel staff was very friendly and even gave us some history about the city. Our room was on the top floor, which was quite a hike, but worth the trip. The staff carried our luggage up the stairs for us, which was nice. The room was a little small, but unless you are planning on spending a lot of time in the room it’s a non issue. The bathroom was quite nice and very spacious. The bed was a little hard for my liking, but I am used to a super soft bed. The walls were also pretty thin I think, since we could hear the neighbors clear as day. The only meal we had there was the full Scottish breakfast, but I found it enjoyable. We were able to swap out the blood pudding with something else after we tried it the first day.

We stayed here for 3 nights while in Edinburgh. The Inn was decorated lovely and the staff was always friendly and welcoming. The rooms are modern and newly refurbished. The inn is in a great central location. Unfortunately, the beds were terribly uncomfortable, the walls were thin — could hear the room next to us, and street noises(even on 3rd floor) were clear as day. We aren’t picky travelers so we were able to enjoy our stay regardless.

Well the trip here was a total disappointment. It was one mess after another. Let’s be clear everything that went wrong with this visit would have been easily avoided If the staff had any level of customer service training or common sense. Instead it required complaining to a manager to get any sort of sense out of the situation. We were a medium sized group 4 adults 3 children. With an easy off the menu set of orders. The first mistake of the meal was when we had asked for a couple of sides to have a starters didn’t show until we asked again. Mistake number 2 an adult portion of fish and chips was served to a 2 year old. When queried we were told it was correct. Then onto the big one. We had an adult cheeseburger and a child’s burger ordered unbeknown to us the child’s burger was brought out and given to the adult. It was returned to the kitchen as it was missing the cheese. While waiting the adult cheeseburger turned up about 20 mins after the rest of the food and was given too the child as he had been waiting so long. The first It returned burnt to a cinder but with cheese again given to the adult. Sent back again. At this point we cut our losses and returned the child’s burger. Then it came to the bill. They tried to charge us for the adult burger and adult fish and chips. Needless to say we thought this would be easily sorted by the staff. Clearly not as we ended up having to speak to the management. The food could have been the best gourmet dining(it was nothing special) but I would not give more that a 1 star as the service was the worst I have received in a long time. Stay clear is my only advice.

Friday, Saturday & Sunday we visited this Hotel/Bar it is really central and serves great food a great variety of beers and spirits and also has live music on a Friday Night. Friday night after dinner we wanted to have a drink and go somewhere lively with some music. I have been to The Inn on the Mile before to watch Rugby, this bar has a good feel about it. There was a Chap with a guitar who did lots of covers all very well performed and entertaining, the service in this bar is quick and efficient and the drinks well presented with some very tempting Gin Cocktails. Saturday we called in for brunch I had some really lovely Cream of Cauliflower & Brocolli Soup with a toasted Tuna Mayonaise Sandwich and a pint of Heverlee one of my favourite beers, wee cuz had a half pint of prawns with a very tasty smoky marie rose sauce and a very lovely Bloody Mary. as usual the service was excellant and so was the food and great price as well. Sunday some serious food was required after a party weekend Eggs Benedict & Bloody Mary for wee cuz and I had full Scottish Breakfast and a Pot of Tea. :ife saving breakfast setting us up for the journey back Home, There is nothing that I can fault in this bar I think I might look at the bedrooms when I next in Edinburgh they certainly look very nice.

I always love boutique hotels over chains and this place is no different. Beautiful, old building that has been fabulously remodeled from a bank to a hotel & bar. Love the décor of the wallpaper and the bathrooms! They had chocolate covered strawberries in our room on arrival and that was a nice surprise! We didn’t request it. Our room was European-sized, or somewhat small but very cute. The bathroom was large though and always warm. The rainfall shower was great. Only downside is that there are no elevators. We stayed on the 3rd or was it the 4th floor(the top floor) and it was a bit of an exercise to get to the room. Being pregnant, I get winded much more easily. With luggage, it’s not super fun either but they do offer to carry that to/from the room for you. Also you can hear the street noise pretty well even from the top floor. All in all, an enjoyable stay in a fantastically central location!

I hadn’t been in since this was the Bank hotel and it’s looking really good after its refurb. We sat outside on a sunny day and enjoyed table service from a friendly waitress, drinking beer in the sunshine watching the festival happen around us on the royal mile. It was a lovely place to people watch, and soak up the festival atmosphere while your drinks were kept topped up!

Surprisingly we found ourselves awake at 10am on New Years Day and were very happy when we stumbled on The Inn On The Mile and that it was still serving breakfast. The full Scottish breakfast was reasonably priced with good quality ingredients. They unfortunately ran out of sausages but happily substituted it with a large amount of haggis. They where even ‘serving’ and I couldn’t miss the opportunity to try one of their real beer flight(tasting menu). If I lived in Edinburgh I could see this being one of my regular haunts because it is so chilled.(Visit — 01/01/2015 Breakfast)

I jumped in here to get out of the rain and it was a really good find. Set in an old building, with windows on every side, this place really does feel like a box which I really like. They have some really nice Pale ale, I really enjoyed one called Bitter & Twisted. Very friendly staff.

What a lovely place to stop by, have a drink, a slice of delicious chocolate cake and a cup of good quality coffee. The location is ideal for anyone heading down the high street and the décor is clean and comfortable. I will be back here again when I am around and looking to avoid most of the tourists.

Sat in the restaurant for 30 minutes without anyone approaching us. My fiancé and I were both very hungry and I wanted a cold drink, but no sort of service ever came. We did get at least 5 dirty looks from the wait staff, so if you want to sit for a half hour with nothing but dirty looks from the staff, this is the place for you. Did get to watch football, but the service is a joke. I would avoid at all costs if at all possible.

Just visited this bar(it’s also a hotel) one night as I’d seen it had been refurbished and wanted to check it out. It was once the Bank Hotel, the Bank had been there for years, maybe 10 or more? The Bank had a large bar in the centre of the space and seating round the edge, with an traditional timber and tiled pub feel. It has since been completely reformed, for the better? Well, I’ve always thought the Bank had it’s place in Edinburgh, bit of an institute for sports, tourists and a long standing pub. I wasn’t a frequent visitor at all, but I’m sad to see it go and be turned into yet another swanky bar. Don’t get me wrong, the refurb is nice, the bar is now down one side, there’s a central spine of banquet fixed seating(that look like they are rather cleverly floating in mid air) and banquet seating around the perimeter. The old Bank’s ornate tiled walls have been taken to the raw stone wall. I’m glad to see they’ve not got rid of the tiles entirely and some remain on the walk down the stairs to the toilets. Some evenings they have entertainment: Mondays is quiz night. Tuesdays —(whisky) flight night. Wednesdays — Steak and Schooner night. Thursdays — Jam Lock in. Fridays — Keeping it local(local band playing). Saturdays — Saturday Session(cover bands). Sundays — Roast. A busy schedule! Prices are what you’d expect from a tourist/centre of town bar. Yeah, it’s ok, but it’s not got me rushing back for more.

I dropped in here after work with some friends for a drink. I was told it had recently been remodeled and the business had changed hands, but I am not sure what it was before. I remember it always being busy during this past festival, so I figured it must be alright. I really liked aspects of the interior, it sort of felt like an old train station in some ways with the high ceilings and tiled floors. It has a sense of the original décor with more modern touches. The seating is either in booths or tables along what seemed to be old church pews, but it wasn’t very busy so it was easy to fit the 6 of us in. The drink list looked interesting, but I just had a beer as did everyone I was with. The service was good and the food menu sounded nice, although we weren’t hungry. The only thing I would like to change about this place is the light shelves behind the bar which hold bottles of liquor. It seemed very out of place and sort of cheesy, both other then that, it was a nice spot for a drink, although with how open it is, it isn’t very intimate. Yet still cozy. I think there are some wee spots you could tuck into if you want some more privacy. I would be keen to maybe try some food here, but I think it suits better as a drinks and nibbles spot. Also great location on the Royal Mile.
