Excellent food, cheery staff, and a deliciously wonderful atmosphere. It’s small and crowded and sweet. I loved that all the food was local and seasonal.

Wer also nicht so herumirren will…

Quaint little place with a great, laid back atmosphere and easy listening music in the background. Nice selection of lunch items, all locally sourced and made in-house. I had the deli plate which came with some locally cured meats, cheese, fresh bread and an unreal chutney. I could have eaten a bowl of the chutney and been completely satisfied. The breakfast menu sounds delicious as well so we may have to try that before we leave.

Food: Full breakfast: exactly what you might have expected, decent but nothing crazily amazing. Scrambled eggs w toast: simple but so good. The egg was perfectly cooked and fluffy/creamy, the toast was also perfect. Service: That’s where I deduct 1 star. I have been here twice. The first time the lady was very friendly but she forgot to take my order while there were only 2 customers in the restaurant at that time. The second time this place was almost full, and the server was less welcoming. I stood for like 3 – 5 minuets before being seated, and it took them 25 minutes to have my scrambled eggs ready.

Simply the best breakfast in Edinburgh. Farm-to-table ingredients and everyone on staff is very present to the idea that they want the customers to feel comfortable and well-fed, but in a very genuine, kind way. Coffee and wifi are spot on and my go-to is the salmon and eggs with INCREDIBLE toast. I travel to Edinburgh monthly and The Larder is a stop I always make.

Love this place. Great local produce with a very hearty, healthy vibe that isn’t overbearing. My only critique would be hat the lunch menu can be a tad pricey for ordinary business lunch-going people for who are looking for awesome great local grub that isn’t the pret or other sandwich shops in the vicinity. But that would be only critique, everything else is top notch.

Date: 31÷01÷16 Venue: medium size with large and small tables. Food: delicious local produce. We had the mussels, ham sandwich and sausage roll. Value: reasonably priced considering all products are fresh, local and of a high standard. Service: prompt and friendly. Verdict: would recommend for lunch or breakfast. 4.5 stars.

Warning: don’t come here for the sake of the food. If you’re like me, the menu will scare you off or something. Come for the good purpose, good quality, and good service. They focus on local ingredients that are fresh and healthy. You really can’t pick something bad for you I think. The dishes all sound quirky, like I had a Ham and Cheese with Chutney, which was unique but surprisingly great! My friend had a Salmon and Beetroot sandwich, and that was good. We both got the seasonal spinach and leek soup, which I REALLY enjoyed. The waitress was really awesome. She asked us about our day, our travels, and our interests. She was a real human being haha, not scripted or anything. Don’t expect to get full(which is why I put 4 stars) and it might be expensive, but you’ll be satisfied knowing you supported a good cause and ate healthy. Will be back.

Having heard a lot of fantastic feedback about The Larder, I was keen to get in here as soon as I could. The food was great. Don’t go in starving, the servings are moderately sized, but pack a punch on taste. You get what you pay for, so come prepared with pounds in hand. The staff are very friendly, but due to the windows fogging up they were forced to leave the door open. Frostbite aside, I’d dine at The Larder again. Don’t forget to use your Unilocal check in discount voucher!

Went here for breakfast and we loved it. Their bread is thick and delicious, the jam is homemade and the eggs are scrambled to perfection. We couldn’t help but try a brownie because they looked too good to pass up. The brownie was amazing. Gluten free and made with almond flour — had a very rich chocolate taste. Loved every bite of it. I definitely recommend this place.

I had a fine breakfast of scrambled eggs, smoked salmon, and toast here. Really enjoyed it, and everything was done perfectly. They’ve got a pretty small staff so it seems like service is a bit slow, but that’s no problem. Just budget your time accordingly as the food is worth it.

I went to this place with my friends for lunch today. I really love the atmosphere there, especially in such a rainy day when everything looks grey. We all ordered soup with ½ sandwich which cost 7 pounds each. Mine was Ham + Scottish cheddar + homemade chutney — it’s really nice! I never had chutney before but it turns out delicious with Ham and bread. My friend ordered a salmon one and the order ordered the sandwich with halloumi — they were all satisfied with their food! Although I enjoyed eating there, I don’t see there’s a reason for people to wait in a long queue just to get in. I guess the best part of this place would be the dessert and scone there rather than lunch and dinner.

A very tasty and cosy place just off the Royal Mile. My girlfriend and I had cream teas, with scones, jam, and clotted cream. The scones were tremendous: fresh and warm. There was a large selection of tea too, so there should be something for everyone. It was slightly more expensive than I would normally pay for cream tea, but not extortionate, and the food was very good. The staff were friendly too! :) The lunch and breakfast foods look excellent too, though I will have to review again in future when I come back.

Edinburgh Larder is a nice breakfast place, that is pretty pop as people are queuing to get in. We went there at half 9 in the morning for an early Sunday breakie and were not disappointed: I really enioyed my scrambled eggs with salmon and toast together with mocca and freshly squeezed orange juice. The place is unique as they bake their own bread and do their own jams and marmelades for sale. I was tempted to buy a coriander and ale chutney, but my backpack was already heavy so maybe another time. The staff was friendly and attentive, so I would definitely come to Larder again for a coffee.

We were only in Edinburgh 3 mornings but we had breakfast here TWICE. It was amazing. Perfect, crunchy outside/soft inside, very rich scones. The Full Scottish Breakfast was among the best we had anywhere in the UK. Friendly service(if leisurely paced… but they were so busy and the place was constantly packed with a tiny kitchen). I died for the depth and texture of that black pudding. All locally sourced– you’ve never such orange egg yokes. Strong, bracing tea. Everything just as you’d hope it to be.

If you check our reviews, you’ll see we almost never rate fives; their is usually something to improve on. But we give Larder a 5 and have eaten their 3 times in our 4 night stay in Edinburgh, also something we usually don’t do. Every one of the salads were interesting & wonderful as were the sandwiches, fritatas & soups. And every one of the staff were friendly & helpful not only with food suggestions, but asking us about our visit & giving suggestioned sights to see. We would say«we’ll be back», but we already have been!

I researched this place before our trip and decided to stop in due to the great reviews. The café is situated near The Royal Mile which is a huge tourist attraction but I love that we were probably the only tourists in the shop lol. I had the smoked salmon sandwich and hubby had the chicken sandwich. The sandwich was delicious! I love the fresh salad. I’m a huge fan of arugula and I love how tasty the salad was. Definitely recommend this spot especially if you are a tourist :)

My friend and I came here for lunch one day, and it was pretty packed! I got a baked egg, which came with toast and homemade jam. The homemade jam was AMAZING. The baked egg was also really interesting; I’ve never had one before but the waiter suggested it I think. It was pretty soft, and the texture was pretty good. I think it’s somewhat similar to a poached egg. The only downside was that it was way too salty. My friend also got a scone, and I regretted not getting one because it was probably the best scone I’ve ever had. They ran out when I tried to order one. The price is somewhat high for the amount of food you get, but the service is pretty good and it’s a pretty cozy place to eat.

Nosotros fuimos a desayunar. Precios asequibles, raciones abundantes y productos frescos.

The best sandwich in my life I got here at the larder. Yummy food, splendid teas, a warm and cosy atmosphere and if you aren’t a tourist who has to worry about his flight luggage a great opportunity to get high quality organic and local products. I can’t wait for the next time to stop by.
