Not offensive but not worth the walk from the city centre. I think 2.8 would probably be fairer. The best thing about eating here was that it made me appreciate the tapas restaurants we have in Dublin even more. The restaurant itself is a little odd in terms of décor and atmosphere. If you’ve ever had really good tapas in Spain, I’d say you’d be a bit disappointed here.

very much want to like this a * or 2 more but it just doesn’t quite do it for me. First of all I should say the food is good, some bits great. i just find the ambience etc not quite my thing. My most recent experience saw us start with a nice manzanilla sherry, jambon and manchego on the side. Great start. Then various tapas — squid, cod/mushy peas(!), chicken skewers, honeyed aubergine chips, artichoke, asparagus, patatas bravas — again all good, served fresh and relatively quickly. Washed down with a lovely white Rioja. Friendly enough staff — all in meal cost £85 for two people.

Hidden away on a side street, Tapa isn’t that easy to find and that’s a good thing. It’s super tasty and the portions are huge. All the food and ingredients are authentically Spanish. If they run out of something then it’s off the menu until the next delivery comes from Spain. A bit annoying when they’ve run out of your favorite but I understand why they do it. They are super good with allergies and adjusting things to them. They have excellent customer service in a relaxed friendly manner. Pretty much every time I go, I decide that I’m not going to be unhealthy and have churros for dessert. Every time I change my mind and get it. It’s awesome and perfect to share.

Quick review for this amazing hidden gem of a Spanish tapas restaurant in the shore! Maybe others know it but I only found it by chance thanks to Unilocal! We had everything, well we ordered an obscene amount! It was all fresh and delicious and cooked perfectly! We ate all of it and ordered more!!! Highlights were the rack of ribs, fries aubergine, secreto iberico(tastiest pork ever), lamb chops(melted in the mouth) and well everything I ate! Just wish I’d been able to sample a large glass of wine to wash it all down but sadly I was driving! Highly recommend and will be returning very soon! Gracias!!!

Tapa is pretty good. Love the vibe of the restaurant and pretty sure I’ll be back again. We shared patatas bravas(of course); aubergine crisps(disappointing in reality); vegetable and chickpea stew(delicious!); stuffed romano pepper(pretty tasty, but no great surprises); artichoke hearts(never really a bad option); chicken(under flavoured) and chorizo(half a pig on a plate). I think the vegetable options were better than the meat, but I’m kinda biased that way. We wrapped things up with the chocolate orange mousse, just to make sure we had lead in our bellies. I liked Tapa, but I think discriminating choices maketh the meal here.

I’ve been to Tapa a few times now and had to write a review after the most recent menu change. The food has always been excellent. I have just felt there was maybe too much of a bias on oily, fried kind of food rather than the fresh, vibrant produce of Spain. The new menu now has a fantastic range of dishes. Staff are excellent; friendly and very knowledgable of their menu(dining with a Vegan) Service is fast enough — dishes are cooked fresh to order and good things come to those that wait. I ordered the Artichokes, Octopus and Chicken Skewers. First thing is first, they do not skimp on portions! These are hearty plates. They taste so good, you’ll still finish them, though. All the flavours of Spain with aforementioned fresh and vibrant tasting ingredients. Imagine a proper, traditional Andalucian tavern and you’re close. You have to try it for yourself, really. It’s now my favourite Spanish place in town.

It’s been awhile since I’ve been here and frankly that’s not good, cause this place is great! Overall the tapas are fantastic. The meat tapas I tried(secreto, presa) were both delicious. We also had some papas bravas. I remember not being to impressed but, to be honest my only issue was that the papas weren’t deep fried. I’m a bit picky when it comes to papas bravas. Had they opted for papas arrugadas with mojo picon there would be no complaint. Still though everything was tasty and freshly prepared. It’s a large location. Really good for accommodating groups. Also just had a gander at the big group menu which looks mighty tasty. Thumbs up!

Microwaved food. Tasteless. Awful. Food arrived literally 2 minutes after we placed our order which was an instant concern. Peppers and cheese dish was floppy and looked like it had been made 2 weeks ago. Meat was a strange colour and fatty. Fish had no taste and prawns were tough. Chorizo was swimming in a sauce which despite being steaming hot at first very quickly went cold and also had no flavour. Extremely disappointing given the good reviews. In giving our response to the waitress who asked«how was your food» I said«not good. Was clearly microwaved and has no taste.» Her response was«sorry» and then she cleared the plates. No explanation or money off bill. We live locally and will not be back. Shame.

Love this place. Staff very nice and know their menu well(ours had even lived in Spain for a while). The food here I just love love love. I don’t think I’ve ever walked away disappointed… there’s an avocado salad with crispy chick peas that is just lush. The gambas are very fresh and delicately flavoured. The chorizo a la plancha I wanted to lick the plate clean(I didn’t). The only shame was that they’d run out of pesto for the sea bass special but the fish itself was delicately cooked. The restaurant wasn’t packed as it was a Tuesday but come on peeps this is a lovely hidden gem! Support your small local businesses :)

Haven’t added anything to the ‘Edinburgh’s Best Kept Secrets’ list in a while but I think this might be next on there. Only seems to be Leithers and Unilocalers that know about it. But by ‘eck, everyone should know about it. What a find! I’m not the biggest tapas fan, so I don’t have any competitors to measure it against, but the quality of service and food here is fantastic. Really struggle to find fault. Have been here a few times now, and so happy to see voucher deals for this place now doing the rounds. £25 off the bill… snap it up. Snap it! Prices seem to vary across the board; charcuterie coming over fairly cheaply(£1.50 — £3.00), veg-centric dishes around the £4 mark and the meat and fish offerings into the upper regions of £5-£7. But the quality is high and I haven’t once felt like I was over-paying as yet. Staff are über-friendly, on no occasion have we been met with someone in a bad mood or even in a non-talkative mood. They are all very much up for the banter and very accommodating. The setting is fantastic, the front room looks like an old stable or warehouse, with it’s pillars and curved top double-doors, given a modern touch with a spattering of Spanish memorabilia that ranges from rustic to pop art. Lots to look at and perpetual low-lighting makes for a very romantic setting. So dish recommendations? Well, I’m a carnivore, through and through, so my faves at the minute include the hot dog, the black pudding(must try!) and the Iberian pig cheeks. Also the pan-seared tiger prawns, the roasted goats cheese and the blue cheese croquettes all must be publicised here. Still thinking about faults… only thing I can think of is their batter tends to be a little over-greasy so the battered dishes(aubergine fritters, tiger prawns, et al) tend to suffer as a result. However there is so much on the menu to try, I’m pretty sure you can work around that. It is a minor crit. I’d have any of those dishes again. Lovely place with a lovely manner. Don’t tell too many folk or you’ll never get a seat!

The first time I went to Tapas was about one and a half year ago and I thought this place and its food was amazing! Sadly, I did not get the same experience this year. I recently went there with a friend on a popular voucher deal offer: £25 off the bill, and was sooo looking forward to it. The table was booked for 18.00 and when I arrived I was given a table near the entrance. There were only two other tables occupied with guests, so I asked if there was a chance to get another table. The answer was no, due to all the tables being reserved ?!? The strange thing was that none of the other guests arrived until an hour later. Also, the waitress was quite rude. Not a first good impression. The interior looks funky. You certainly wont miss out on a Spanish Flair! We were given the menu, with not much explanation on what the«deal» entailed. As the place was so quiet we could hear the staff talking(constantly) behind the counter, which was totally disturbing. As the night went on, it became better. We got a new waitress(more friendly) and the food was very good. Don’t take me wrong: I absolutely adore the food(less the service and the price). I thought that the prices for the tapas were quite steep. They offer all variations of tapas: Vegetarian, Meat and Fish. Their menu is very easy to read and clear. We ordered some carne and vegetarianos tapas: Chorizo a la Plancha(sausage), Presa Iberica(ham), Patatas Bravas(Potatoes in spicy tomato sauce), Berenjenas con Miel(aubergines), Queso de Mursia al Vino(Goats Milk cheese in wine sauce). For dessert I got myself a liquor coffee(as you do when already full). Would I go back? Maybe…

Love this place! Love tapas! I’ve been here a handful of times and I’m never disappointed. Delicious tapas and friendly staff. I’d even got as far to say this is my most favourite tapas restaurant in Edinburgh! BIG statement I know, but when you have tried the Carrillades Ibericas(Iberian black pigs cheeks in red wine), you’ll know what I mean. I always order this. Another few favourites are the Albóndigas a la Jardinera(Homemade Beef & Pork Meatballs), Gambas al Pil Pil(Tiger Prawns), Alcachofas(Artichoke Heart salad) and of course it’s no tapas meal without the Patatas Bravas! They are doing a rather tasty meal deal at the moment too, 4 tapas and a bottle of Rioja(can be exchanged for a bottle of white) for £25 between 2 people. I recommend sharing at least 5 or 6 tapas between two, should be plenty. It has free wi-fi too if required. Originally I was always concerned for Tapa, opening this Spanish restaurant at this location. Tucked behind the Shore, unnoticeable from the main drag. I had seen so many restaurants/bars move into Wishharts Warehouse with little luck, primarily due the location I think. BUT Tapa has proved to be the exception. Tapa is a slick operation welcoming their customers into a spacious, whitewashed converted dock house covered with tasteful Spanish artefacts. Even the photos of toothless peasants has a certain comical value. It’s always busy too, a testimony to it’s success.

I’ve been to Tapa twice and was very impressed on both occasions. As a vegetarian it is impressive to find somewhere that not only has a wide variety of options, but unusual and interesting options at that. The staff were excellent, great service, will definitely be back! If you go check as Tapa offer 20% off if you book through there!

Average Spanish tapas for average prices with friendly staff. I would not recommend the sangria or rice pudding if you are seeking something traditional, but if you just want to get an idea of what Spanish food is… go for it; it’s definitely not bad. I just am picky and prefer authentic.

They changed the menu and my mind! Thank you Tapas for entertaining us last Friday on such a short notice(like 2 minutes from Sofi’s to Tapas) and finding space to serve 3 hungry girls and a boy. We enjoyed the 12 odd different ones served out to us — Gambas, chorizo warm chicken and potato dishes. Your staff was helpful friendly and very accommodating to my sister when she was asking for things that weren’t actually on the menu. I’d recommend to people to book(unlike us) as it was purely by chance we got our table. Highly recommended and another visit is in order soon.

Ohhh, GETINMAHBELLAY. The reaction, I think, of all us girls(Robyn Z. Nikki A. and Chelsea S.) upon seeing the tapas brought to our table. As mentioned before me by these lovely ladies, Tapa runs a very, very good deal on week nights and we took advantage of it. Let me try an English colloquialism for a change, it was«well» good. My parents are very keen on their tapas so I’ve been dragged through more tapas bars, restaurants and dives than you can shake a stick at, both abroad and in the Netherlands. Fair to say, I’ve tasted a lot of tapas, and these are gooood. As a matter of fact, when the Parental Unit once again graces Scotland with their presence, I shall drag them here. That’s how good it was. The churros were in the shape of tears. Tears of joy, that is. And all of the dishes were expertly prepared, and lovingly presented. This is a great place to bring a date, as the ambiance is quite intimate, but as a group of four girls, none of us felt out of place. Oh man, and the chorizo, did I mention the chorizo? Eat that. Oh, yes, and the aubergine crisps, encrusted with brown sugar and orange peel. WHAT? I’m not sure who the chef is, but that might be a good thing or I would’ve probably gotten his number. This is pure joy, my friends. Pure joy, go forth and tapa.

i have long been a customer at Tapa and when the need arrived for a girly dinner with Nikki A, Lou V, and Chelsea i had only one place to suggest. I knew the food was good, the location perfect, and an offer of £25(per 2 people) for a bottle of rioja and four tapas, nothing could go wrong. i wandered my way down to the shore, debating whether it was raining or just misty and arrived to a lovely Nikki A waiting for me with a glass of white wine at the little bar they have at the front of the restaurant. As the table was ready, we decided to move there and the waiter very happily brought over the first bottle of wine and a big pitcher of water. Lou V and Chelsea arrived shortly after this and more wine was poured and menus taken up. We had a very friendly waiter(a rather attractive young man for the single ladies out there ;)) who told us the specials and recommended how many dishes would be good for the four of us. 8 were already included in the offer, but he suggested we may wait one or two more but could easily order these later on if needed. decisions were made and the final 8 tapas were spanish meatballs, crispy prawns, calamari, patatas bravas, patatas alioli, chorizo with tomato sauce, grilled tiger prawns, and fried auberinge with honey.(apologies although having been a spanish major at university that language skill fails me recalling the correct names…) more chat ensued and more lovely rioja was poured and then the parade of the tapas began! the dishes came out as they were ready, but all fairly close together and it was a feast for the eyes and our tummies! i immediately tucked into the crispy prawns, a favourite of mine, and they were just as sumptious and juicy as ever. the chorizo was still hot and the tomato sauce zingy and full of flavour. the meatballs came with a lovely tomato sauce, and the patatas bravas and alioli were crispy on the outside fluffy on the inside and accompanied with delicious toppings! the auberinges were sliced thinly with a crispy batter and topped with honey making them the perfect combination of savoury and sweet. lasty the grilled tiger prawn proved a bit of a production for me as i had to have Lou V remove the head before i’d remove the rest of the body. after de-shelling, the prawn was enjoyed thorougly. i passed on the calamari as squid isn’t my thing but it appeared that everyone else found this very tasty. after the main dishes were cleared away, we took no time at all the inform the waiter to bring three portions of the churros con chocolate. i made it very clear that this girl does not share dessert, so while the others did i had my own portion :) the churros were freshly made with a cup of thick dark melted chocolate to dip them into. just heaven really… phew…that was a lot of food to review! but some last comments, although we were there on an offer and were rather loud with our chat and jovality, the waiter never failed to show up at our table with a smile and be as helpful as ever. i also appreciate that long after the food was finished and dessert consumed, Nikki A and i proceeded to have another glass of wine and were made to feel as if we could have stayed all night… if only we hadn’t had to work the next day! i seriously love this place and find it’s a fantastic restaurant to go to for a catch up with friends over lunch, a girl’s dinner, or a romantic date. and with the various offers that they always have on this place is an amazing value! £10 for 7 tapas to share between 2 people at lunch, £25 for a bottle of wine and 4 tapas between 2 people, and they’re currently giving you a £10 voucher for your next visit when you settle your bill. seriously, why are you still reading this, go to Tapa!!!
