Starbucks is a Starbucks is a Starbucks — well, kindof. It helps if the staff are friendly(in this branch they are) and there are drink options. As I grow older, the less I drink coffee(if I’m in a coffee shop drinking coffee it will always end up being some sort of vanilla soy concoction loaded with sugar) and the more I drink tea. I don’t find the range of tea always that inspiring — but Starbucks does have a locely hibiscus, mango and papaya tea that hits the spot on a chilly morning. Quite a lot of seating for home office workers/students, and near Napier university, which is super useful for me at the moment!

My overall experience in the premesis was disgraceful. The food was too expensive and tasted frozen, my cup of tea tasted cheap, i had no choice of which milk I wanted with my beverage as well as my mug was poorly cleaned. I also had to leave my cat outside, although im glad she didn’t have to experience this disgrace of a coffee shop.

I’m posting a 4-star review for 3 reasons: 1) I’m a youth worker and the staff here are SO friendly and helpful and tolerant and PATIENT with the masses of teens from Watsons and Boroughmuir… go Starbucks! So impressed with you guys! 2) The person who gave them a 1-star review and posted a picture of a dog not even at the coffee shop because of their dog policy. I’m sorry they sent you outside, but really? 3) This place has great outdoor seating and plenty of space for those of us that like to drink chai lattes and break out our computers for a little bit of starbucks office time. I think this starbucks knows where the majority of their business is from and does it as well as a starbucks could. So, ok, Starbucks at 2 Colinton Road… off to making those hot chocolates and frappucinos… the teenagers salute you.

Extremely rude member of staff this am. Was told my dog(who is very well behaved and is a therapet!) not welcome even though she was allowed in on many previous occasions. It was very embarrassing as I was half way through my latte, sitting in a quiet corner may I add, when the barista decided to inform me about their policy regarding dogs. Interesting that the barista had waited til I purchased my drink before speaking to me. I was made to feel like a pariah and it’s fair to say I shall never go to Starbucks again.

Come prepared to clear up. Watched 4 different parties have to clear a table to sit at. No queue just lazy staff. No apology offered, just a confused expression when I brought my own cup and plate to the counter to help tidy up.

4 stars. For a Starbucks? Yeah. I’ll be really honest, I’m not a huge fan of the coffee the whole chains sells, but the staff at this branch are really nice, and it makes a huge difference when you get your morning coffee before heading for work at the nearby uni :)

Starbucks is Starbucks. I’m not a huge fan of big coffee chains but this one has the advantage to be conveniently located, particularly to meet friends based at the Merchiston Napier Uni campus. They have recently changed the furniture and you now get a long benchy couchy things with plugs for your laptop and little tables. Sort of ideal if you need to study or do some work. I don’t go there often enough to have my own opinion about the staff but I’ve been told by a regular that they are really friendly and know your name and your drink if you come often enough. Now cleanliness. Jeez sort it out! The place is a mess.

It’s Starbucks, you know what you are getting. Friendly staff, decent muffins and a pretty good flat white at a decent price. What A-ok was made for!

If you can avoid the masses of school kids in the morning, this can be quite a nice Starbucks! The fare is standard but the staff are lovely and very good at what they do.

My favourite Starbucks, the staff are really chatty and the Chai Latte is the best! Do a good fruit scone too, if a little stodgy, but that’s how I like it! :o)

I always pop in when I am passing, the staff are very friendly and helpful and although it is starbucks coffee it is always made well and at least you know what you are getting. The space is comfortable, light and relaxing… when not full of school kids! One little thing though… are the muffins getting smaller???

Comfy and fairly friendly. But starbucks-quality coffee. Pity.

As Starbucks go this is at the nicer end of the Edinburgh stores. Friendly(generous) staff, good coffee(for Starbucks), and a bright open environment with plenty of outside seating that forms a nice suntrap in the summer. VERY busy with the usual eclectic crowd: students, school kids, and mum’s with pushchairs. JK Rowling and Dylan Moran are regulars. As per all Starbucks the toilets are always spotless but the seating area is rarely clean.
