St Anthony’s chapel stands atop of a hill in Holyrood Park. It’s an easy walk(about 10−15min) from the Holyrood car park and you can chose if you want to climb some rocks or take the more comfortable path to the ruin. Nowadays, there is not much left of the chapel, but it still provides a very scenic picture backdrop. I even saw a couple climbing the hill and then getting married amongst the ruins. The wedding attendance was very small, but having said this, there were plenty of tourists witnessing such a spcial occasion. I would even think that getting married there is for free :-) Sometimes it’s just nice to sit on the rocks near the chapel and admire the awesome view over Edinburgh and towards the Firth of Forth.

It is a 15th century chapel which most probably was in use up till the end of 17th century. Now, what is left of it is its north wall facing the sea and the beautiful St. Margaret’s lake below the hill on whih top the chapel was built. St. Anthony’s Chapel is one of the sights in the huge Holyrood park area and offers a nice view on a sunny day, as well as green grounds for a picnic or just a wee stretch.
