Car boot sale in an underground car park. Feels quite post-apocalyptic but if you’re willing to mingle with the hustle and bustle of the other bargain hunters you might find some treasure! Cheers, Amy

First visit to this car boot which is on every Sunday from 9 – 1 on 4th floor of omni car park opposite St James centre in Edinburgh. Apart from some of the lights not working in the car park it was good day out with lots and lots of varied bric a brac. Good for bargain hunters.

One of our most favorite things to do for a single mom with a young girl — when my daughter was young we had so much fun over the years picking out toys you couldn’t get anymore and since we only live part time in Edinburgh and didn’t pack toys to bring, it was perfect. We’ve managed to keep many things as collectibles over the years. And… I’ve picked up some of the coolest items like china, and crystal and a lot more for only a pound. It’s worth the time to go exploring. Pick up those DVDs for a pound — there are a ton to choose from at lots of stalls. Lena xo

It’s a total hit and miss of stuff and things… There seem to be a few stalls that are there all the time. but for the most part, it’s just a random ad hoc bunch of people and ‘STUFF’… You either need to go with a clear idea of what you want. or with a completely open mind and the time to browse and sort through a lot of rubbish to potentially find a gem… Though the stalls seem to have gotten much more random since I was last there over a year ago… and there seemed to be some ‘cat-call bartering’ which I’d not experienced at the boot sale before… reminded me of Thai or Middle Eastern street markets…
