I would rate this place 10 stars if I could! If you do one thing, and one thing only, do it well. This place does hog sandwiches like no one else. One must get a cracklin to top off a divine sandwich!

this place was mad good, it was quick and easy but the food was really tasty! I had a brown roll with onion and sage stuffing and apple sauce. I loved it! Others in our group had BBQ sauce and Hot Chilli Sauce. We will definitely be back.

Literally my favorite food joint ever! I stopped by Scotland on a Europe tour and this is by far the best food place I’ve been to. The sandwiches are delicious, customizable, and cheap! I thought the oink portion was going to be small but they stuff it with a lot of meat so I was full from just one sandwich. I came here constantly during my stay in Edinburgh and I would come back to Scotland just for the sandwiches here!

I had a sandwich at Oink during my 2-days trip in Edinburgh and I loved it. If you are looking for a cheap and quality fast food in the city center I highly recommend it. Its offer is really easy and well explained: choose your size, your bread, your stuffing, your sauce and… enjoy it! The meat is really tender and tasty and the stuffing includes the traditional Scottish haggis.

It was my last day in Edinburgh and I decided to eat as much as I can around the city. I had the piglet size sandwich with the sage and onion and my friend got the apple sauce with the pork. The meat is juicy and my most favorite was the piece of crisps pork skin on top. Delicious! I will be back next time I visit.

Oink had me at whole-roasted Scottish hog. The menu is simple: pick a size, a brown or white soft roll, a filling(stuffing or haggis), and a sauce. We got a piglet with stuffing and apple and an oink with haggis and homemade BBQ sauce. Of the two, I highly recommend the haggis and BBQ sauce combo. It was really flavorful and complemented the pork. The stuffing/apple combo was a little bland by comparison, although still good. A great place to grab a quick, affordable and tasty lunch!

That’s some good pig. Pick your size, bread, topping, and sauce… don’t forget to ask for some«cracklin’» if that’s your thing. Select a sugary beverage. Delight in pulled porky goodness either on premises or down the street in the glorious Grassmarket Plaza area.

Great sandwiches, great price. The apple and pork combination is fantastic. The bread is divine. I just wish that they put some more sauce on the sandwich initially prior to the 50 cent upcharge.

Great pork sandwich. It was a quick bite to eat that I really enjoyed. However it is cash only unless you buy a lot of sandwiches to get your bill over a certain amount and there isn’t much seating or seating near by. But it is a central location and good food.

I had a white roll w/onion stuffing and apple sauce. Personally not a huge fan of that sweet sauce which did not pair up well with the pork. The meat was tender though. I also asked for cracklings, but the guy obviously forgot. Bottom line: a cheap place to get a decent pork roll if you happen to walk by, but does not worth a trip specifically for that.

OINK!!! I love this pork sandwich so much, I’ll be coming back to Edinburgh to taste it again! Especially enjoyed the one with the haggis.

There are a few addresses that I couldn’t make it during my short trip to Edinburgh, but I’m glad Oink wasn’t part of them. It may be true that I insisted to visit this place… Good for the budget(last day of the trip) and for the palate! Craving for some now, not sure that I can get some as good as Oink’s in Paris…

It’s yummy, it’s fast, it’s easy. Is it a little on the expensive side, yes. But it’s hard to get good BBQ in Edinburgh and they certainly do a great job. Not to mention, you can get free crackling to add some crunch to your sandwich.

You can’t walk past this place with out salivating! We nipped in whilst on our trip to Edinburgh as the smell of the sandwiches were just too good to refuse. The meat was lovely and moist and the toppings tasty too. I felt it was over-priced for what it was… but hey I guess in a city centre and with public demand they can get away with charging what they do. I would also of liked the stuffing to be nice and crispy but that is personal preference. The stuffing with the apple sauce was a combo made in heaven. Definitely worth a visit if you’re wanting to satisfy a rumbly tummy!

I was catching up on what’s new in the Unilocaliverse, when Oink fell into the top spot on my «Your Next Review Awaits» queue. I’m obviously slacking. So… this Oink is pretty much a carbon copy of THIS Oink: Therefore, my sentiments in that review ring true for this spot as well. Oink remains to be one of the best spots to score a quick meal under £5. I still opt for The Grunter, because i’m still a monster. I have branched out into apple sauce(I know, so cool.) and my intuition on the extra sauce was on point. So what new tidbits have I picked up since last year in the land of Oink? Did you know you can order a WHOLEHOG?! I was delighted. I have yet to do it, but the fact that it’s an easily ordered possibility makes me happy. Unfortunately, I rarely have occasions where I need to feed 130 meat eaters, but I remain hopeful. The catering option I most recently found and will likely weave its way into an event soon is the Leg It. You can order a whole leg of pork that feeds 25 people for £90. It even comes with stuffing, rolls & apple sauce. So that’s brilliant. I’m always on the look out for spots that could potential feed an event with very little effort on my part, so this was a happy happenstance, but until I get my hands on a reason to order a hog leg, i’ll happily stick with Oink being my «i’m lazy and it’s cheap» lunch refuge.

This is the first meal I ate in Edinburgh. Fat and lean meat is in a balance I like, just like the ROUJIAMO I ate in China except the sauce. PS: The price has rised, no more 2.60 pounds now.

The line for this place is huge! I got in at a good time but it always seems busy. The lady behind the counter was super nice. A sandwich is around £4 and not the most filling. I was still a bit hungry after. I found the sandwich dry and I’ve definitely had better pork elsewhere. I think maybe with some mayo or something it might’ve tasted better? Just to dry for my taste. People love it though.

My husband has been looking forward to having a meal here for several months. It was one of the first things he mentioned after we got off the train at Waverly Station, and it kept creeping into conversation as the days in Edinburgh swept on by. We finally had a chance to give it a try the day before we were set to leave for Prague. We each got the«The Oink» — which is a regular-sized version of the sandwich. I chose to dress my brown roll with sage and onion and the chili relish, while my husband chose the apple sauce and chili relish on a white roll. They are cash only, and their«dining room» is almost non-existent, so if they’re busy, you may have to take your sandwich to go. As it was, the one table by the window was taken, and the one bar area(with four chairs) was also taken. We were just discussing where we could go to eat when the guys at the bar offered us their seats, as they were finishing up. The sandwich was good, but I wasn’t blown away by it. I guess I had built it up in my head so much over the months — we talked about it, we drooled over the pictures — so I was expecting it to knock me on my bum. It was decent, and it filled me up. Plus, it was by far the cheapest meal we had on the entire trip, so that has to count for something.

Very close to the Edinburgh castle, ~5mins walk. It was a good value for the price but the meat was kind of bland and more seasoning would really help.
