I tend to find shopping for clothes a rather tiring activity. I like nice clothes, but I don’t like sifting through department stores trying to find something good. I stumbled across Kestin Hare by accident. They are slightly hidden, downstairs on George Street. They sell a selection of garments from their own menswear range, designed locally in Edinburgh plus a few other items from other interesting brands and designers. The shop itself is small; there are two rails on either side of the room and a large table in the center with some other items(shoes, watches, etc). It’s exactly the type of clothes shopping experience I like — you can take it all in, look at every item and decided whether any of it is for you. The staff are friendly and helpful; I like to know a bit more about clothes, where they were made or come from and they have always been happy to answer questions. These are definitely more expensive, boutique style items but not ridiculously so and there are often sale items which are reasonable priced. It’s a place I will always check out if I am clothes shopping as it’s doesn’t take much time to look around; I might not see anything I like or I may find one item I really love. Fashion is obviously subjective but either way I think it’s worth a visit to support local designers rather than heading straight to department stores.
