This is such a cute little mom and pop coffee place. The owners are friendly and the patrons are usually people they know from nearby areas which adds a very homey feel to the place. I can’t comment on the food but I had tea which came in a cute little tea-cup. The prices are reasonable, the WiFi is great, and you have ample charging points for your gadgets.

The cakes are to die for, the service is with a smile, and the prices are laughably low. The espresso drinks are shockingly high quality, the soups are delicious … there’s just really no going wrong here.

A nice, airy café! On our quest to try all the little cafes that Leith(ish-type area) has to offer we ended up at Just The Ticket last week. The innards are cute, and bright though quite plain with the odd picture of a sheep on the wall. We set ourselves up at a window seat by the till and our order was taken promptly. We both went for ham and cheese toasties with a bowl of the soup of the day. For £4.50 there was no going wrong, we thought. I ordered tea and the wee teacup it arrived with was adorable. Unfortunately, it was Tetley, I don’t like Tetley tea. Meanwhile, the toasties were toasty and delicious. We’d been told the soup of the day was chicken, but it turned out to be chicken, capsicum and sweetcorn. As Capsicum and sweetcorn are two of the very small number of foods I detest I wasn’t all too pleased. The staff were cheerful and very accommodating. Unfortunately, I just can’t say much for it as 2⁄3 I ordered were made of things I dislike. It’s unfortunate to leave a 3 star review, but I just didn’t enjoy the food/tea. I’ll return, as I liked the look and atmosphere, but until then I’m stickin’ to mah guns!

A nice enough place for a tea/coffee. They must have been spring cleaning as there was an area cornered off with junk, the patisserie is made in house and they do have a good selection to offer for lunch.

This is very clean and well-kept. The menu is reasonably rich, and above all, the prices are the most earnest I’ve found in Edinburgh so far. Let’s be fair: an espresso doesn’t take much in terms of both time and raw material, and for that reason it should be illegal to sell it for more than 1£. Here the price was only 80p, and for a very decent espresso too. This has literally made my day. There is a good selection of cakes and tiffins which are no worse quality than in most places in town, and yet they are not as outrageously dear. I have always found the overpricing of most cafes in town quite discouraging and frustrating, especially when not justify by superb quality. The building is also very nice, and cozy. I reccomend this place to anyone happening to be around the area of Calton Hill: it’s easy to reach from there and it’s usually not too busy. There is free wi-wi access with no need to get through boring log-in processes.

This place is just full of good energy! The interior is subtle, simple and welcoming. The coffee is one of the best I have had in town and is made with passion. There is pastries, cakes, sandwiches and all looks very tempting to try. I was full and just wanted a coffee this time but will come back to try the rest! This is a place that oz relaxing!

This place saved us from caffeine deprivation and hunger after long days at fringe shows. We found it with the help of Unilocal and it was exactly what we needed. The coffee and tea were good. Sausage rolls were delicious, and the bacon roll crowd seemed pleased, as well. We may even go back today. The café is very cute and comfortable and the employees were welcoming and helpful. Prices are great, too.

Love this place for being charming, reasonably-priced and tasty. Free wifi, nice filled rolls, cakes and excellent coffees and teas. PLUS it is in an interesting old building. I also like The Manna House in Easter Road but it’s often crowded and is very pricey. I find my feet take me back to Just The Ticket because it’s a welcoming place. If only they had a patio out back. Two thumbs up.

Ok, I’ve been back for a cup of tea and the best scone I’ve had in years, and I’m in love with this wee place. It’s clean and fresh and friendly, with the sort of home made scones and cakes that you always hope you’re going to find in a tea room but usually don’t. My tea came in a traditional brown pot, with a pretty china cup and saucer, my scone came with lots of tasty jam, and there’s free, strong wifi. I will be back!

A lovely blend of old style exterior and modern interior, Just the Ticket strikes me as an ideal spot to pass a relaxing morning or afternoon. Overall, we said: «their soup was very good, the welcome very friendly, and the surroundings entirely conducive to whiling away an afternoon. Their menu lacks a „killer dish“, but maybe their cakes play that role. I can see this place playing a role on my various training walks, over the next few months, as a welcome stop-off point for a nice cuppa and a heat.»
