Forth One is the best local radio station on the East coast of Scotland, and most likely one of the best nationally. With this radio station, you get great music with up-to-date chart hitting singles, rock anthems and indie classics. But what makes this radio station better than other local stations in my opinion is the presenters! Boogie in the Morning is a great morning radio show but the best has to be Grant Stott’s show from 10am to 2pm. This local legend provides great music but also great banter with those who call in. Furthermore, the radio station also makes an effort to inform people of local events and campaigns which are going on! To me the music is great and this local radio station does seem to have less time dedicated to those awful radio adverts than most(An added bonus)! If you’re in Edinburgh then why not give it a listen…

The medium of radio is one that still seems stuck very much in the twentieth century, especially when it comes to local stations. Fist-clenchingly infuriating jingles, awkward interviews with local non-celebrities, and a music playlist that would even sound embarrassing at a gypsy’s wedding. Forth One has all of this and more, with presenters who sound like they’re applying for a job at TGI’s, and various competitions punting worthless«prizes» straight from the bargain buckets of local stores, and that’s exactly what’s so great about it. Corny, outdated, but strangely reassuring, the eccentricities of local radio are a pleasure I hope we have for many years to come.
